Hey DakkaDakka. I apologize for the newbie question, but I'm just starting fantasy and am very confused about how to deploy packmasters/master moulders with Rat Ogres.

From what I understand, I know that a Master Moulder must be deployed in the first rank if he can (as he is a champion). However, how can packmasters be deployed? Can they be beside the unit? Behind the rat ogres? How do they have to be deployed? And what about if there are multiple packmasters - do they have to be in the same column, rank, etc? The rulebook isn't terribly clear about how I can arrange these guys. Any clarification will help. Thanks.

The pack masters must be moved behind the rat ogres. IF they form a second rank however you still get their attacks.

There is no requirement for the pack masters to be on the rear.

Nosf is accurate. There is no rule in the most recent Skaven RB regarding where to place the pack masters. There is nothing I can find of where to place packmasters in the FAQ. I have been intermixing mine in the middle of the unit, using 4 occupying the same space IE filling the 40mm slots. If you follow suit, just be prepared to need to re-organize you unit if you lose some to shooting attacks.

I like units of 8 ratogres with 1 upgraded to a champion and 4 pack masters. It always seems to work itself out pretty uniform when they take wounds anyway. The champions fun and fluff, and every now and then he punches someone elses unit champ in the face, or eats a character.
