So this army only makes it to 1660. I wanted to leave room for ideas and what not. Ive never run an imperial guard army so this is untested with little experince behind it. All help would be great

I wouldn't mix the lascannons with that one missile launcher. I would make 2 squads. 1 lascannon Team and a Missile team. or just 2 squads of Lascannons teams, for tank busting.

Than tank section looks good. Is your regular opponent running a mech list? lascannons and 2 vanquishers, that's a lot of anti tank guns.

If you are going for a full 2000 points, I would consider putting in at least 1 more platoon, or raise your platoons to 3 squads. Preferably make a third squad. (1 more order to give per turn.)

You seem to be running a mech list. why then have a heavy weapon team, a deffensive unit, while the rest of your list is playing aggressive?

while playing guard you have to keep your army together. Leaving a HWT behind,... I would invest the points in a Hydra Flak tank, if you are facing (dark) eldar, or tau. depends on the opponent. that, or try to put an extra vanquisher in.

Hope this helps.

I'd use a punisher and a vanquisher, instead of two vanquishers.

Join the Imperial Guard. The pay's lousy, the battles fierce and you probably won't ever come back again. BUT you get a lasgun.

a Punisher is not worth combining with a vanquisher. an anti tank + anti infantry does not fit.

besides, why does he need punishers? he has 2 leman russes. 2 large blast Templates to deal with hordes, so IMO a punisher is not a good choice to add.

First most thanks for what you said so far. Most of the people in my area are running a mech heavy list mainly space marines. My Idea behind the heavy weapons teams was to watch my back for drop pods but Im more than willing to get rid of them. What should I do with those extra points just beef up the squads? I would love a punisher and I will get one in the future It looks cool to me but as I said before I dont really play horde armies so it doesnt seem like a good choice

well, firstly, your list isn't legal. I'd start with that. A troops choice that is taken up by an infantry platoon composes of a platoon command squad and at least two platoon infantry squads. Currently, you're missing your junior officers.

From there, the list seems a little confused. Straken in a mechanized list, really? HWSs in a mechanized list? Hmm... Vanquishers? Pass.

The biggest problem I see is that it looks like you went through and picked what you saw as the coolest units out of the codex and threw them together and called it a list. This will end poorly.

I'd start by figuring out exactly what you want your army to do, and then cutting out everything that isn't part of that overarching goal, and then spending the points you cut out to support the main style of your army.

Well I changed the list I put the wrong numbers down but my points did add up right. That was my bad. Straken was my choice because he can punch a hole in most armor. If you read the rest of this page you can see I already agreed to take out the HWPS and if you dont like my tank choice what would you chose

To be honest, I think Punishers are great for cuting down hordes.

But I'd use some special weapon squads with plasmas and a chimera.
