Well Ive just recently coaxed a new player into 40k and hes latched onto the idea of a Salamander army and enjoys they idea of a Drop pod army so this is what the two of use wrote up after a brief running though the codex.

Librarian + combi Melta (MoA + other) – 115

2 Iron Clad dreds + HF + 2 drop pods – 360

10 man Tac squad + melta + MM + combi melt + sword + Drop pod – 235

10 man Tac squad + combi-flamer + PW + flamer + ML – 195

Thunderfire cannon - 100

General tactics here is to bring the two dreads down first turn in a drop pod assault . They pop armor/ create havoc while the 10 man squad on foot hides out with the Thunderfire cannon on a home objective. The 10 man squad in the pod has the Libby attached and drops down to either support a flank or onto an objective.

So thats the general idea I admit SM are not my forte, so im wondering
#1 Are the Tac squads weapon load outs ok?
#2 What should my powers on the Libby be or would a different HQ work better?
#3 Any other helpful hints or tricks (note this is just going to be played in a friendly environment)?

I'd Heavy Flamer and Meltagun the Ironclads.

On the Tactical Squad in the pod I'd recommend a Power Fist.

Whats a RL?

I was under the assumption the Ironclad had a melta gun attached

RL was just a short hand for Rocket launcher which i guess is a missile launcher (edited)
