So my resident CSM player decided to try a triple Defiler list yesterday and promptly proceeded to rip my list to shreds, leading me to the conclusion that I need more ranged anti-tank (something I was seriously considering BEFORE that happened, now I'm just sure). As it is right now, the only ranged AT that I have in my list (1750 points) is a LC/ML tankhunter ven dread and an objective camping squad with a missile launcher/plasma cannon.

Anyhow, I was thinking of adding a pred to the list, but what would be better bang for my bucks, an AC/Las or a Las/Las pred? I'd guess the AC pred would be better against lightish vehicles while the las-pred deals with heavier stuff?

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

If you have the points triple las pred. Remember magnets are your friend so if you ever want ot use AC pred you can. Obviously the triple las pred is going to be a bullet magnet since it is a heavy duty tank hunter. Maybe use it as a distraction then drop pod a squad of termies and rip open any armour, you could drop pod some meltas maybe?

I usually go 2x Tri-Las preds for anti tank simply because they're so cheap for us (comparatively to other SM chapters, at least). They've worked quite well for me in the past, just make sure you give them smoke and EA.

With that said, a vindi can also do alright - sometimes I also throw in some Landspeeders w/ MM+HF, which is a cheap 75 pts and can wreck havok upon infantry and tanks alike.

Not sure whether BT have devs, but I have found them to be more useful than LC preds, mostly because of the easy use of cover.

(Not that I have that much experience to draw on; it just seems that the preds get blown to bits much quicker.)

No dev squads for us

Though I havn't had much occasion to use them (since I have a very small BT army atm) I have heard good things about both attack bikes with MM and MM/HF landspeeders.

Trilas Predators, AC/Las Predators, Vindicators (sometimes), MM Suicide Speeders/Attack Bikes, are all pretty good choices.

Against low armour opponents, the MM are usually a pretty good choice since S8 at 24" range with a 6-12" move is still very deadly against AV10/11.
