Howdy all,

So I'm looking into making Space Wolves the next Marine chapter I wish to delve into. I love the fluff of the chapters; the nordic vibe, slaying monsters, proving ones worth.

My question is, there is so very little info about the Space Wolves 13th Company that was lost in the warp back during the horus heresy. Now I know on occassion they "pop up" looking half-warp spawned, beat the hell out of some deamons or what have you, and disappear again. So what would they look like? Would they be almost half-chaos/half-space wolf? Would they be considered heretics?

The reason I ask is because I'm thinking of making my Space Wolves 13th Company inspired. My T-wolf calvary will literally be Space Wolves that tamed Bloodcrushers in the warp, beat up rhinos that look like they've been through hell, and space wolves that look like they've been around a while. I don't intend to do heavy conversion work, but any info would be greatly helpful!

They wear the pre-heresy grey instead of the blue-grey. And salavage gear from Chaos Marines.

All of the units have a special rank Grey Slayers etc.

They have lot's of Rune Priests but few termies and dreadnoughts.

Accurate statements so far. They also have a higher number of those that have suffered from the Wulfen Curse. In the SW books, the Canis Helix that every SW has can mutate them into Wulfen if the warrior doesn't have a strong will to fight off his inner beast. These look like were-wolfish hulks in scraps of their old power armor. Again as stated they usually have mixed loyalist and Chaos parts to their armor and are painted pre-heresy grey. I've been considering making a squad of Wulfen cursed led by a Wolf Priest for my army. 13th Company definitely has a lot of chances to convert models if you want to.

Where ever the Emperor needs his eyes

They (GW) used to make a Wulfen set for 13th Company players. Way back when I started the game and was looking to start the SW (Something I couldn't do for a number of reasons) I saw this, and a Grey Slayers box on GW UK's website. Perhaps with a bit of luck you could find a Wulfen Box on Ebay or something?

For the most part I don't believe many in the Imperium are aware of the 13th CO's exsistance, save the Space Wolves and the few on Cadia that encountered them in the 13th Black Crusade. But should certain parties see them I would believe that they would be considered heretics simply due to how they look. They do after all utilize scavenged Chaos Power Armor and have Wolf-men running around in their army, in addition to just showing up out of the warp at will.

That helped a ton

Question is, would longfangs/rhinos be out of charecter in a 13th co army? From the reading I know land raiders, termis, and dreads are pretty much out, but missile squads and rhinos would probably exist, albeit probably a little "chaosified" from salvaging parts to fix theirs?

The canis gene actually protects them from the mutating effects of long term presence in the warp, its just that due to the length of time they have been alive (since the horus heresy) more of the company have lost the battle with the inner wolf.

just rooted out my eye of terror codex:

''None of the 13th Company have access to, or make use of, transports of any type''

the 13th Company list is pretty slimmed down to represent the traveling hunters.

If you want to have the transports you could go with a pre-heresy army, so no chaos scrap, but the standard rule is wulfen don't like being put in a box, with or without wheels

Long fangs are in the list though

So then making a 100% fluffy list wouldn't exactly fit into a "competative" list... hmm. Maybe a slight alteration of a fluffy list might be in order. i like the idea of using Bloodcrushers for TWC, but having no rhinos would definitely be no-bueno!

They do however like their bikes, use them the rapid assaults while having grey hunters (grey slayers) for fire support and blood claws (storm claws) going in for close combat.

Saddly, SW bikers aren't good neither are jump-marines for sw, the lower WS/BS hurts them soooo bad :( I reckon I could just do my own part of 13th co., like a "sub" chapter seeing as I'll have to make a charecter anyway to "counts as" Ragnar

Ragnar did meet up with the 13th Company in the final book of the Space Wolves series. He lead a bunch of Wulfen cursed against Maddox IIRC. So you could use Ragnar and paint him in the SW Grey, and keep the rest of the Wulfen in the dark grey of the pre-heresy. You could also justify taking a few rhinos from the year 40,000 and mixing them with the 13th, although Ragnar was with only a handful of his battle brothers while trapped in the warp. If you want fluff about the 13th CO, I would recommend that final book.

Wouldn't it be more fluffy to just use Wolfen as TWC? I mean, not marines riding Wulfen (which would admittedly be hilarious), but just convert or buy some OOP Wulfen, and use them as counts-as TWC.

Seeing as the warriors of the 13th Company have been alive and fighting since the horusy heresy, they have all reached or surpassed the skill of wolf guard, so having a wolf lord of the same or better stats as ragnar is not only possible but accurate esecially those that have the will to have controlled the canis gene for thousands of years.

You could use wolf guard to represent the stronger storm claws or grey slayers.

Is the eye of terror 13th company codex list still usable, official wise?

I don't believe so as many of the units in the dex have been updated in newer codices. And thats very true!

This:

and Wulfen look like this:

They had special rules back in 3rd edition with the Eye of Terror Campaign Codex. In order to play them you needed 3 Codexes though(Space marine, Space Wolf, and Eye of Terror). They had the following units:
HQ
1 Wolf lord(required)
0-1 Wolf priest
0-1 Rune Priest
Elites
Wulfen Pack(basically a unit of models with Mark of the Wulfen; Pictured above)
Storm claws Pack(Pure CC unit that could have 1 model upgraded to a Wolfguard and had access to the SW armory)
Troops
Grey Slayers(Basically Grey hunters; Pictured above)
Fast Attack
Fenrisian Wolves(almost exactly like the new unit from the SW codex, but no Cyberwolves)
Storm Claws Biker Pack(Almost exactly like regular marine Bikes but adding skilled rider)
Heavy Support
13th Co Long Fangs(Just like any other Long Fangs)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Rune Priest - Chooser of the slain, MB, LL, Hurricane - 115 pts

-------------
4x Thunderwolf Calv - 1x TH/SS, 1x SS, 1x MB, 1x plain - 295 pts

Seeing as you can't have an official wolven unit why not use the blood claws unit rules (both cc units) with converted wolven minis, they loose some of their punch i know but its better than not having the iconic minis in the army.

ACtually, the most fluffy way to do 13th Company is a little different.
In the old EoT codex, the basic troops (Grey Slayers) had the exact same stats as normal SW Wolfguard due to their millenia of experience. Sotrm Claws were the same, but with 2 CCW instead of a bolter.
The 13th also had large numbers of Fenrisian Wolves with them.

So the best way IMO to represent them (not the most competetive as such) is:

Wolf Lord
-Logan Counts as to mage Wolfguard troops

Rune Priests
-As per normal

Wulfen
-Mix them in with normal squads

Storm Claws
-Close combat Wolfguard

Grey Slayers
-WG with bolters mostly

Bikers
-Wolfguard on bikes

Wolves
-Er......wolves

And so on.
This makes for a small, elite army, with almost EXACTLY the right stats, equipment and units. As stated, not really tournament material, but from a pure fluff point of view, this is as close as it gets.
