Hi all, just started this post out of interest as to what the best 'Hero killer' is.

I'll start off by saying that I really like Chakax from the Lizardmen to be my nominee for Hero Killer.
Reasons being:
- St 5 W/ a great weapon.
- Must issue a chalenge or accept 1.
- Re-rolls failed to hit rolls
- ALWAYS, ALWAYS STRIKES FIRST NO MATTER WHAT in a challenge.
- Hidden models must be revealed within 20".

Chakax stats
M 4, WS 5, BS 0, S 5, T 5, W 2, I 3, A 4, Ld 8

4+ scaly skin, Cold Blooded.

Chakax is good, unitll you look at his points and realise an oldblood on a carno can cost less.
With that out of the way i'd go with Skulltaker, less tan half the points with no loss in damage, he may not be able to take Chakax himself but thats no surprise considering the points difference.

Dark Elf assasin? That's what they're they're for.

Give them an extra hand weapon, manbane, and touch of death.

That means: 4 WS9, attacks, with I9 ASF (that means re-rolls to hit), that will always wound on 3+ and use whatever strength that is to modify the armour save. Plus killing blow. Also consider that he is hidden and the character won't know what is coming.

Not bad for 151pts, which is equal or cheaper than most heroes/lords.

Great Unclean One with the Balesword, ASF buff, and the first two Nurgle spells isn't too shabby...

First of didn't Chakax get FAQ'd so that he gives them the rule ASL. So then he and the hero go at initiative, which he will then get beat at. Not to mention that price tag. In my opinion he is one of the coolest characters in the whole Lizardmen army book, so he does have that redeeming quality.

All of my characters play a support role (i.e. Shadow wizard and BSB). So I don't rely on them to kill characters. I do however trust my chaos knights to pick off characters. They can dish out a lot of attacks, and survive the attacks back.

You kind of missed two of Chakax's big abilities in your initial list...

In a challenge he gets a 5+ ward save. Also, all magical weapons count as mundane weapons when used against him in close combat.

The first one is nice, the second is stupidly good.

2,500 - Discipline. Duty. Unyielding Will.
2,000 - He alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood.
2,500 - Order. Unity. Obedience.

Yes.

Pager 66 – Chakax, The Key to the Eternity Chamber
Change to “When fighting in a challenge, Chakax gains a 5+
ward save and his opponent Always Strikes Last.”

So then he and the hero go at initiative, which he will then get beat at.

No, not quite right. Page 66, BRB under Always Strikes Last: "If the model with this rules is fighting an enemy with the same ability, the Attacks are made simultaneously."

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

Ghorgon, 50/50 chance to instant kill anything human sized, so not so great against slann, OK or anything on a monster but... ok so not generally the best.

For me, my Ogre Tyrant.

Sword of Anti-Heroes, Tricksters Helm, and The Other Tricksters Shard.

So lots of high strength attacks, in a model that can't generally be killing blowed, with the addition of all successful to wound rolls should be re-rolled. And you have to re-roll your successful wards. Is he invincible? Nope. But he is quite tasty nonetheless!

My swordmaster champion took out Queek Headtaker, but that might have been a fluke. Still, I'm going with that.

Basic skaven warlord with the pointy stick that causes multiple wounds + potion of strength took down my throgg . So I'm voting for him until otherwise

Although I do love facing enemy heroes with a treeman ancient + annoyance of nettlings (only hit me on 6's). Chances of killing a treeman when you're hitting on 6's... not good! Chances of it killing you back in a challenge with 5 attacks and thunderstomp at strength 6... decent!

I've had him stay level with a tricked out chaos lord, and even against a high elf prince on star dragon, finally winning combat in a round and running them down!! (surgeon general's warning: results not typical, please consult your dakka/doctor before taking)

a Chaos Lord with the Father of Blades, Armor of Damnation, Talisman of protection, Shield, and MoT could be pretty nasty.

3+ armor, 5+ ward and forcing Rerolls to hit him which could potentially cause whoever is attacking him to kill themselves.

not the deadliest character, but certaintly at the top of non-named models although he is pretty expensive.

Special Characters... Karl Franz, slaps you 4x for auto-wounding, armor-skipping, d3-multiplying wounds. ghastly, and worse if buffed by nearby priests to re-roll his hits.

Otherwise:

Arch Lector
War Altar
Speculum
Great Weapon
Armor of Meteoric Iron
Dawnstone

Takes your stats and then adds 2 str, 1+ re-rollable armor save and 4+ ward (and it's practically impossible to make that armor save worse than a 4+ re-rollable given that you get the pope's str) and he is slapping you with lots of attacks.

Although, a skaven warlord on warlitter is not to be despised if he carries the felblade. Makes you re-roll your ward saves and beats the hell out of you with a silly number of s10 attacks at i7 (i think).

.You are absolutely correct, Malleus, but thats only if he doesn't die on the way there via the fellblade. Pleased to see this thread is really taking off!

p.s, don't just say what your character is, explain it for people who don't have the codex like Malleus, RiTides and Eldar Own!

ok this guy's Armor forces you to reroll successful hits. the Father of Blades makes every roll of 1 to hit him hit the model/unit attacking him. the talisman and MoT combine into a 5+ ward.

5 T6 wounds with +5 ward. Tenderizer means 5 S7 attacks(at ASL) that multiply into d3 wounds. OTS forces models in btb to re-roll sucessful wards. SPLAT!

Haven't tried this out yet but what do you guys think?
brett pally with gauntlet of the duel (enemy cannot decline a duel), virtue of confidence (pally must issuse/accept challenges and re-rolls to hit and to wound) and lance of somthingorather (lance + killing blow).
costs 146 points but he also has the dragonhelm and a shield

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Killing blow is another virtue. A good choice would be.

Bret Lord with Virtue of Heroism, Sword of the Lady's Champion, Grail Vow, barded Warhorse, shield, Tress of Isoulde.

Heroic Killing Blow, Immune to psych, wounds on a 3+, 2+ Armour save, hits on a 2+ against one model.
