I read too much fluff. The BT codex is packed full of assault this, assault that. So I used to think that was obviously the best tactic. RZ across the board trying to get into a fist fight, which to be honest, very rarely worked for me. I play Nids 90% of the games I play so that explains a lot. Anyway, I know this won't be a Jack of all trades list but what do you all think of it for bug extermination.
Here's my new, much shootier list.
HQ:(442)
Marshall (Terminator Armour, Lightning Claws(just incase someone gets close), Bionics, Auspex) 142pts
Command Squad (3 Terminators, 2 with Assault Cannons) 160pts
Emperors Champ AAC 140pts
ELITE:(480)
5 Terminators, 2 with Assault Cannons 240pts
5 Terminators, 2 with Assault Cannons 240pts
TROOP:(576)
6 man Las/Plas squad in TL Las Razorback with Dozerblade and lights 192pts
6 man Las/Plas squad in TL Las Razorback with Dozerblade and lights 192pts
6 man Las/Plas squad in TL Las Razorback with Dozerblade and lights 192pts
Grand total of 1498 if my maths hasn't failed me. What do you think?

if you arent planning to get into many assaults dont take AACNMTO, its a waste. take abhor the witch if you are dead set on running gunline templars razorbacks dont need dozer blades especially if you are running a gunline list which it seems you are trying to, and 1 search light will do the trick. my opinion? you never see templar gunline lists because they just arent that good. at some point you are going to have a unit run towards the enemy. anyway, dump the marshall and command squad, you are a terminator short anyway. and put those points into a 10 initiate/4 neophyte squad in a LRC riding with the EC. then, drop the 2 shooty terminator squads and get an assault terminator unit with furious charge, 4 PLC 1 TH/SS and throw them in a crusader too. you have a good mobile anti tank fire base with the razorbacks, and a lot of the fire from your opponent with be directed at your two LRC leaving your laz squads in the backfield un-harmed. the standard starting template for a decent templar army nowadays includes at least 2 LRCs and a rhino or 2 of more bp/ccw crusader squads

Thanks for the advice, I was wondering what you mean by the statement above? A Sword Brethren Terminator Command Squad is between 3 and 9 models if memory serves.
Also the reason for the total lack of assault units was down to the fact im constantly getting battered by Nids up close and personal. I see what you mean about AAC.

the entry says the command squad consists of a "sergeant and 3-9 terminators"
the sarg has a power weapon and storm bolter and make take equipment from the armory. the only two squads in the whole book that have a sarg are command squads and terminator command squads.
what kind of nids are you getting battered by? having zero assault units is only going to amplify the fact that when the bugs eventually get to you, they are going to stomp you. the best defense against an assault driven list (especially in the case of templars) is a good offense. for example, you do not want to let orks get a charge off, theres a huge difference between slugga boyz getting 3 attacks that wound on 5s than ones that get 4 attacks that wound on 4s.

No. A terminator command squad is 4 to 10, plus the HQ.

Thanks for that clarification on the squad size. Automatically Appended Next Post: Basically with an assaulty army. Primarily large crusader squads of BP/CCW, standard BT fare i get thrashed by Genestealers and MCs. I seem to lack the firepower to stop them getting to me. With this new list I plan to shoot them to pieces before they get close enough to do any real damage.
