I hate this army.. it hurts... it falls out of the sky and obliterates my poor defenceless rhinos in turn one.. then whilst my sweet innocent little word bearers are just minding their own buisness... they get a bucket full of assault marines in the face. Which is just plain rude.

In all seriousness, 2 drop pods in the first turn (usually a SG squad and a dread) isn't that big of an issue however the lucius drop pod does mean the dread is in combat munching through my Lord/Havocs in the first turn which although means the dread is going to go down in a blaze of glory it is a very disruptive element.

Have i ever told you how much i hate point blank melta fire into rhinos? Have i?

Only thing i'd suggest is up the sternguard to 10, so you can make my day even less fun with combat squads dropping out of the pods and melta/flamering transports/infantry squads. Maximum damage before the assault troops arrive.

I love this list......
except get rid of some sternguards. you need more than 1 troop choice XD.

Captain Korvydae allows Assault Marines to be taken as Troops choices as long as you take at least one scout squad.

Looks deadly although for dreadnought drop pod, why not use a Ironclad? Also not a big fan of sternguard HF seeing that your assaults already have plenty of flamers. Telion's squad should have a heavy weapon so you could krak snipe characters or something

Venerable Dreads are overpriced.

Nowhere near enough AT.

Not really sure what a Tempest Land Speeder is.

If you really want to play Jump Pack Raven Guard, you're better off with the Blood Angels codex. The assault troops are cheaper and better. And you don't need ForgeWorld rules to make them scoring.

Find a way to get more AT in there.

Dude the forgeworld characters are awesome. Just like the Red Scorpions Character.
Plus everyone has to accept that Forgeworld has some good and not some good rules.

Hmm have to agree on more AT. I'd swap the tempest for 2 HF/MM landspeeders or 3 MM attack bikes

Aspiretoglory @ Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought 12 combi meltas, 2 power fist, 1 thunder hammer ( Korvydaes), 1 twin linked middle launcher ( tempest), 1 Assault cannonwith possibility of rending ( tempest), and a dreadnought powerfist was a reasonable amount of AT, granted you need to get close to use alot of it but that's the down side to playing a quick moving strike force. A Tempest is a landspeeder with AV 11 on the front, extra armour, twin linked missile launcher with AA mount and an Assault cannon. As much as the list would work out of the BA codex, I refuse to use it as it is in my belief that the codex is unbalanced and an a abomination of a codex and completly broken.

KenShin620 @ The idea behind the HF in the Sternguard runs from when I run 10 in a droppod, I deploy them in combat squads say by a transport one combat squad meltas the transport then the 2 HF open up on the squad in side and I rapid fire the 3 spare bolters. I find that the HF flamers work well in my armies as there tactically diverse and don't tie me down to a spot as other heavy weapons do plus they can be fired straigth out of the droppod. As fair as telion goes I'm dropping him out of this list as his points can be spent making the sternguard tactically viable again.

little tip. Claiming that the BA codex is broken and then using dreadnought drop pods tend to make people roll their eyes

As others have said, you can run a more competitive jumper list with the Blood Angels book. Assault Marines aren't all that great. Furious Charge and Feel No Pain Assault Marines are pretty good.

Its good. But I hate tempest landspeeders. Also to the guy who said blood angels have the best codex in terms of assualt. That is true. But considering they do not have ironclad dreadnoughts this list would suck without the ironclad!

Just replace it with a Furioso. *shrugs*

I think if you're going to run the Vanilla dex you should take advantage of the stuff it can offer. Most of that involves good Assault Terminators and the Special characters within the Vanilla dex though there are some other advantages.

You want Jump Packs? Run BA. Drop Korvydae and take a simple Librarian or Reclusiarch in his place. Drop the scouts, add the Sanguinary Priests. Ironclad=Furiso. Tempest=Attack Bikes or Baals. Essentially the same list, but better because it uses a Codex designed for it.

Me? If I build Raven Guard my list is less focused on blindly assaulting the opponent with fast assault units and Drop Pods. That's BA's job. Vanilla Codex Raven Guard end up being more of a precise, pinpoint alpha strike, short range army.
