With my Space Hulk arriving soon I was wondering if anybody had any links to some guides for painting the Genestealers as the only ones I can find seem to be pretty challenging. Having never painted Tyranids before it has to be pretty easy! Thanks

I dont know where you could find an easy guide....but you could start with some pinks, blues, or greens for your paints and a complimentary darker wash to go over the primary color. It would be easy, provide depth and shadow and would look good... Its a place to start.

If it were me, I'd start with a white basecoat and then use 2-3 washes with inks to add colour and give a natural highlight.

Natakue does it to make ork flesh and i think the technique would work really well with genestealers.

I've tried painting Tyranids and I find them fairly challenging.

Same here. My Orks are passable but my Space Wolves suck. I don't think I'd have so much problem with Tyranids though as you have more freedom to play with colours schemes IMO.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

True but I prefer the Space Hulk color scheme but I just can't seem to find an easy, more simple version

Depends on what painting scheme you prefer. Here are my Space Hulk Genestealers, painted with a quick, semi-complex, easy copyable painting scheme as described in my Tyranid blog (see sig).

Hi,

Here's pictures of the ones I did last spring as piece of a commission:

As you can see, I more or less went for the classic scheme but with lighter skin. They were pretty straightforward to paint. I worked with a lot of Washes there because that's the way to go when you're dealing with lots of natural surfaces and nids are just all that.

Have you tried the official Games Workshop guides for painting these?

Be specific, what exactly are you struggling with?

I've had a look at your gallery, I could be wrong because I'm a newcomer myself, but I can't see that you are using washes, plus I think you're not thining your paint enough.

Bang up a couple of pics and perhaps someone can suggest how to help.

Yes I do use washes but the main problem I have is highlighting which i'm uncertain about, even less with tyranids!
