I'm currently reading the Horus Heresy series (and enjoying them very much) and wondered
who would be the best person to play Horus in the Hollywood Blockbuster 'The Horus Heresy'.

And yes, I do realise this will never happen!

The best I can come up with is Gerard Butler (300) which I appreciate is pretty unimaginative...

Anyone do better? And sorry if this is retreading old ground...

Jeff Bridges might not be a bad choice for Horus. He's pretty good at playing both good and bad guys.

Completely agree. He is firm enough in character and the reverse as needed. I think watching butler spiral down would be Oscar worthy.

800 brethren and 2,000 other personnel were expected to reach Crows World within no more than 12 hours. They never arrived.

Neil McDonough springs to mind, if we're being realistic with budgeting. I'm a perfect world I'd let Daniel Craig rock Horus.

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes...

John Lithgow hands down. He can turn on the good guy / bad guy psychopath better than anyone. If anyone is a Dexter fan he was amazing last season as the protagonist, he's got a great commanding voice when he needs it and he's just got this vibe that can be very manipulating.

Or even better, Jason Statham playing Horus as Chev Chelios. That would be possibly the greatest thing ever.

Hugh Laurie, with Roan Atkinson as Ezekiel Abaddon.

Maybe David Mitchell and Robert Webb?

In all seriousness, I have no idea, but Fulgrim should be played by Chris Evans.

This is always my suggestion for Emperor...

"You come into my Galaxy and try to take my empire. I feel like a child who put a tooth under his pillow and bandits came in the night and took it...will someone explain to them the concept of the tooth fairy?"

And Samuel L Jackson as Vulcan.

"Does the Emperor look like a bitch?!"

I would go with Willem Dafoa as Horus.

"And there was...A FIREFIGHT!"

Build a fire for a man and he will be warm for a day; set a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain.

Sly Marbo doesn't go to ground, the ground comes to him.

I've had some ideas about who would make good primarchs though some of them i'm not sure which primarch.

I agree about Bruce Willis being Horus.

Sam Elliot as Dorn

I actually think Gerard Butler would play a good Russ but that's probably because the Beowulf movie.

Jeremy Irons as The Lion

Vin diesel as Vulkan

That evil guy from The Patriot (The Dragoon Captain), Harry Potter (Lucien Malfoy) and the newer Peter Pan (Capn. Hook) as Night Haunter

Ron Perlman (maybe Perturabo or Guilliman)

Brad Pit as Sanguinious (this is mostly from seeing him with long blonde hair in Legends of the Fall).

I'd love to see Mickey Rourke as a primarch. Maybe Angron, he's ugly enough.

Brendan Gleeson although he's getting up in age.

And that awesome/crazy Irish guy from Braveheart who always says "IT'S MY ISLAND!!!" as someone.

Horus, I'm honestly not too sure. I can't quite think up a decent enough actor that I'd want to see don the armor.

Leman Russ, however, I want to be portrayed by John Rhys-Davies. Man is perfect for the part.

Ouze on GW: "I'd like to be like, hey baby, you're a freak but you just got too much crazy going on, and I don't hook up with bunny boilers. But then Necrons are going to come out, and I'm going to be like damn girl, and then next thing you know, it's angry sex time again.

It's complicated."

The ruins of the Palace of Thorns

Okay, controversial, casting a black man as the baddie, but how about Idris Elba (Stringer Bell from The Wire, and the title role from the UK production Luther) as Horus? He has the physical presence, as well as the charisma.

Or maybe Daniel Day-Lewis as Horus?

Christian Bale is a lock for the Emperor.

Russell Crowe as Angron.

David Bowie as Fulgrim.

Hugo Weaving as Perturabo.

Joaquin Phoenix,Bill Nighy and John Malkovich have that 40k vibe and should be in there somewhere.

Michael Sheen as Alpharius/Omegon.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

There is no one on earth who could play a primarch in my opinion. It would be pretty much impossible to convey the magnitude of them.
There is one possibility for a person to play Lorgar however and it would be the guy who plays Xerxes in 300.

Nah, if they were going to be in any 40k production it would have to be Caiphas Cain.

This would be my vote. Ive been a fan of him being a bad guy for pretty much my whole life. He is just CRAZY good as a bad guy. He did a few movies during his career where he played crazy bad guy and he does it VERY well. My only problem is I think his voice isnt deep enough to be Horus. But still my pick for sure.

I lol ed at most of that. Some were actually a decent pick. Most were bad ideas. Tom Cruise is just hilarious.
