Looking at the other game forums some of them could stand to be renamed. for example AT-43 is on hiatus pending a second edition and it looks like Kings of War may be more popular here than LotR.

What do people think, should be renamed with generic names "Science Fiction 28mm games" etc rather than tied to specific games+other?

OH-I Wanna get out of here

I think that without a definite name like AT-43 to direct folks, you would get 40k in the "Science Fiction 28mm games" and WHFB in "Fantasy 28mm games". If you can get around that, goferit.

I guess if you kept the "other" before each one it might keep the confusion down.

Yeah, I think "Other Sci-Fi Wargames", "Other Fantasy Wargames" is sufficient. "Other" means any game that doesn't have a specific subforum (GW games, Warmachine, etc.) The subtext can list examples of games that fall into that category, but the forum itself should just be "Other X".

Another discussion, of course, is when does a game get big enough to deserve its own subforum? For instance, if Flames of War popular enough on its own to be given its own subforum, distinct from "Other Historical"?

Good questions... I was really tempted by AT-43 for awhile and appreciated it having a section with it in the title. But it could probably use revision as KK pointed out.

The only problem is too generic of a title can lead people to not really posting there. Mentioning specific games (in the title or parantheses) helps draw them in, I think

Epic Scale Games should be merged into Spaceship Naval, Driving & Mech Games (Epic posts) and Other Fantasy Games (Warmaster posts) forums to make room for a dedicated FoW forum.

The descriptions should be widened to include Malifaux, Infinity, Firestorm Armada etc.

Babylon 5 doesn't exist as a game any more really... /sadface.

Other games???? There are other games besides 40K, WFB and LOTR?

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

+1

Exactly. Aside from FOW, and some battletech chatter, the rest of the topics are like post-apocalyptic wastelands. If I see posts less than a month old, I'm very surprised.

I think that games like FOW, which have a lot of traffic should have their own forum. Others (gothic, epic, at43, etc.) I'm not so sure. At least with Gothic, there aren't enough posters to keep it interesting.

I know more people who play BFG than who play LoTR...

And, since it is my primary area of interest, the Naval forum (which included BFG) has been heating up a bit lately. I think the prospect of some solid BFG action at Dakkacon has helped in that regard .

Yerp, there's a BFG campaign starting at Cut n Thrust in Bristol. I think, from the two games of it I've played in the last week, that it's a great game.
