Hello Dakka, after a while playing Guard, I wanted a new army, that new army is the Black Templars, Im looking to add additonal units to my growing crusade using the Assualt on Black Reach kit. But I have some questions:

1. the marines are just push together, so there is no choice in weapons or how they are positioned?

2. Is it easy to convert them, using the BT coversion kit?

Since my conversion skills are pretty bad, I did a few basic conversions like weapon swaps, I did build my own marbo...but I lacking in GS and platicard conversions.

I think its a good idea since I never actually got arround to buying the 5th edition rule book (my gaming group only has 1 copy, we all borrowed it to read from a friend i the group). So its got the added bonus of having my own copy of the rules, plus I can sell off the orks to a freind of mine who plays orks. Plus i want to use some of the new recuits in a battle A.S.A.P (the night I get them).

I already have a chaplin, 10 mairnes (from BfM) 6 old metal scouts (neophytes), a squad of sword brethen and the Emperor's campion (birthday presents from friends) and a vindicator. I know the army lacks transports but in my gaming group of 6 only 3 people currently have a transport each so I'm not worried about being over run by mech atm. But rhinos/razorbacks are on my next agenda.

thanks for reading, if it seems a variable option, I'll hopefully have some photos up on the weekend.

well I found out the answer to my first question but does anybody know if it easy to convert AoBR marines?

well a quick search over on B&C revealed that it is possible to convert the terminators...
But can a AoBR marine be easly converted from a bolter to have a bolt pistol and close combat weapon?

Not really, they are a solid piece of plastic, the guns are attatched to arms which have pegs on them and push in, so the hands are alreay on the weapons, heads are fixed, everything. It is possible, but it would be diificult

You would basically have to resculpt both of the arms and the entire front part of the torso to get them to look good. Personally, I would just glue a chain sword to their hips or to the back of their backpacks so it looks like they are not yet in melee. I know, Black Templars not in melee? Heresy! But unless you want to try and resculpt half of each marine you'll just need to make do.

Or you can try and trade someone for their tac marines.

Ok thanks everybody.
I'll might just try your idea UselesswizarD with the chainsword on the back or something like that.
