I was leafing through some Chaos Space Marine and Necron lore (codices specifically) and had a few questions.

1.) Chaos Space Marines- Are there Space Marines or Chapters that refuse their oaths to the Emperor but don't join the forces of the Chaos Space Marines (i.e. joined the Tau instead) and example of such if available.

2.) Necrons- The codex and lore seem to say the Necrotyr utterly gave themselves 100% to the C'Tan, and those that didn't were probably forced to become Necrons anyway, so is there anything lore-wise to indicate that there is a faction of Necron who saw the dark times ahead like the Eldar did and smartly removed themselves out of harm's way? I never like the "everyone did it" or "everyone died" scenarios in fluff and backstories (like Dragonball Z Saiyans), so I was wondering if there are any divergent Necrons out there.

Not all rengade legions are loyal to Chaos. For example, the Relictors and Sould Drinkers are both cosidered rengade and have been declared heretics (Relictors for using Chaos and daemon tainted gear and Sould Drinkers for mutation) but still oppose Chaos. They still view themselves as loyalists. Others may be mislead (see Lamenters) and act against their oaths. Generally, though , a full renunciation only occurs when a chapter has been thoroughly turned to Chaos. Otherwise, they nominally still follow the Emperor, even if their acts are somewhat inconsistent with that.

The Necrontyr was destroyed utterly. The C'Tan are mean like that. It is still possible that their are rogue Necron elements, though, lead by a particularly willful Lord, for example. And it is unknown how many C'Tan are still floating around- it is possible some serve unrevealed C'Tan or even destroyed C'Tan.
