Ideally I'd like to find something for the PC along the lines of BF2142 or Tribes 2 where the focus is on online play and you have vehicles that can be multi-crewed and deployables. Anything fit the bill that's come out in the last year or so or is coming out?

Not a ton that I have seen that really focus on the vehicle portion except for the battlefield games (which are all fantastic.) I was not that impressed with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 all that much really. I still mostly play Team Fortress 2 when I need a multiplayer fix.

Another vote for Team Fortress 2 although its more whimsical than most FPS games. And theres no vehicles. Is Battlefield Bad Company 2 still strong? It is a battlefield game so I guess you'll enjoy that. Theres also the dozens of Half Life 2 mods like empires although not all of them are too popular and they are in the lower end of the spectrum for graphics.

Man I really wish someone would make Battlefront 3 right now

Tried Battlefield: Bad Company 2? Beats MW2 online hands down. Should still be thousands playing it.

Battlefield 3 in development, though who knows when that'll be out.

Oops, forgot about this thread Thanks to those who replied.

Yeah TF2 is pretty much out. I'm sure it's great from everything I've heard and read on it, but not really my style. If I go with a game without vehicles, I tend to go for more tactical shooters like the old Rainbow Six series rather than the run and gun style.

It looks like BF2:BC is probably going to be my next purchase. It seems to have most of the stuff I liked about BF2142. I think the heavy weapons in the hands of the medics is kind of a silly move, but I guess I can live with it.

I second Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I've always been a Battlefield fan, but I think this might be my favorite.

Not only does it have the typical class setup, it has some new vehicles (boats, jetskis, and ATVs) AND destructible environment! Sniper up in that building causing your team trouble? Launch a rocket launcher or use a tank to blow away the wall removing his cover. It's so much fun!

I keep forgetting about that! Have they announced a release date yet?

TF2 has more tactics then all the realistic shooters out there combined. That's what you get with 9 perfectly balanced classes

Perfect is a bit too strong of a word

I think relatively is better

But I think we dont need to discuss tf2 anymore on this topic anyways.

I like the combat medic role, but I prefer it to be on the assault class like BF 2142 rather than the heavy weapon support.

Yay for destructable environments!! I wish Soldat had not been so F'd up, the way they handled environmental physics was awesome...too bad the rest of the game sucked.

Not really what I meant by tactical shooter. I prefer a little bit higher level of realism at the moment. The cartoony graphics and rocket jumping are not fitting into that profile.
I had goods times playing the original and it seems that the second improved on that in every aspect, but I'm just not interested in that particular gameplay at the moment.

Speaking of BF BC2, I really like that they know that grenade spam is a problem!

Also yes, FRAG can mean something else of its nature
