Well, I was bored and found that a similar thread has not popped up here so I thought I may as well post it.
If you were a standard infantry soldier stuck down in the bog and wanted to live or just die with a bang, what would you do it with?

 1500 points of footslogging hell
 500 points of curves

95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair grab some popcorn and yell JUMP BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lasgun. It is the 40K version of the legendary AK-47 we all know and love. If I am stuck in the mud in the middle of hostile territory, I want something simple and reliable, not some fancy high-tech/Xenos gadgets. Getting bolt shells etc. might be impossible in the outback but the good old Lasgun can be recharged in a campfire  .

Gauss rifles seem the deadliest and therefore the most fun. Not to mention you could disintegrate people's clothes off!
Splinter rifle was a close 2nd.

Ranger Long Rifle for me. I'm a squishy and wouldn't want to be in the middle of a Ork waaaaghhh. I'd rather just pick off the warboss and watch the ensuing pecking order.

Voted aswell for the same reasons. Not sure how the roll of 6 (& 5) = AP1 translates well over.
Though i'd love a good 'ol Slugga an Choppa when dey get close
