Here are a few Eldar special characters that have been around since the very beginning of the 2nd edition without every having a model update.
Honestly, I don't think these minis have needed them. Although they do look slightly static compared to some of the more recent special characters, I think that in those years of scale creep, the Eldar still haven't caught up to Asurmen.
Anyway, here are some pics. All kinds of commentary are welcome:

I personally feel that Ulthuan never needs an update...that is just one sexy piece of pewter. But Asurmen needs an update...that model sucks

Asurmen is OK I would not say he is the greatest model GW ever made.

Yeah, looking at them, Ulthuan really doesn't need any kind of update. Although he's only a one piece mini, his pose doesn't look static, and his detail is terrific.
The Phoenix Lords all look a little bit out of step with the other Eldar- especially now that they've adopted a more sleek look and more dynamic poses. Asurman looks a little bulky in the force, and just a little bit less dynamic than his brethren.

As an eldar painter, Im glad to see this post. Your work is very nice indeed.
If you dont mind Id like to add some comments for improvement...
Only thing that let me down (and this is just my personal tast) is you used the usual colours for these guys. I love seeing them painted in other colours. Im so tired of GW colour schemes.
The back of Ulthuan's staff could use a touch up on the top half. There are some bolts there as well that could be touched up too.
The gold could use some wash. Maybe a brown?
With some of the comments on Asurmen, thats normal. His the biggest of Pheonix Lords yet doesnt look as good as them. Plus, his aspect is shooty and he is more Hands on. I just got this guy and will be putting some green stuff over his face mask to make him more "eldar" like.
Keep up the great work!!

I've seen some conversions for Asurmen's mask before, so I take it you'll be following one of those? They can work pretty well, from what I've seen.
On the colors, these mini were a commission, and the color scheme was not my choice.
That said, I really like those colors, on Eldrad especially. But if it had been left to me, I'm sure I would have deviated quite a bit more.
