Subject: Marine Variant Specialty?

What separates the marines codex from each other in terms of units and fluff not rulewise?
From what i gathered
Blood Angels:
- The Sanguinor
- Sanguinary Guard
- Death company
- Storm raven
- Ball Predator
- Multiple special characters mephiston (aka Daemon prince), Astorath the grim (grim reaper?), dante (oldest most coolest marine)
Fluffwise
-The thirst and black rage sets them as heroes with a dark past
-Longest living space marine (something about the thirst prolonging their life)
- Most vehicles among marines, 30+ stormraven? or Lr?
Space wolves:
- Thunderwolves fangir calvary
- Wolfguard
- Multiple special characters Logan (wise humane chapter master), lukas (very space wolf like), Ragnar (youngest wolf lord)
Fluffwise
Bjorn (oldest dreadnought or person still left from the crusade? )
Unique chapter organization, number of troops depending on the specific wolflord.
Dark Angels
- Jetbike (i know its a special character but the bike is only unique to this chapter)
Fluffwise
- Ravenwing and deathwing formations
Black templars
- Emperor's champion
Fluffwise
- their force organization, neophyte training, the crusades (the neverending crusade), NO libarians.
Im missing a lot in this list...so correct me if im wrong but i don't see much difference for dark angels as their ravenwing = white scars and the deathwing formation is just like any other 1st company...The black templar use to have the LR crusader all to themselves but now only have the emperor's champion as a special unit...this 2 chapters lack differentiation so what would you add to their list to make them unique???

Dark Angels also have fearless terminators and combat veterans. and deathwing is quite different from any other 1st company, those are usually veteran troops who *may* be in terminator armour, Dark Angels will only field the 1st company as terminators.
Our chaplains are also tougher than regular ones, and are a little darker in background too.
Black Templars are not only the only chapter with Emperor's Champs, also they are extremely anti-psyker. One of the Chump's vows is Abhor the Witch.
Over all, what is the point to this discussion?

The honest answer is very little separates them from each other. At the end of the day it's still power armor/bolter/chainsword dudes sharing 90% of the same equipment, rules and stat lines. The best that each flavor of marines can do is exactly that, a different flavor of marines. If you want actual different game play take a different race.

I find that so wrong.

Personally i think that BA and maybe DA can be represented with a few special characters who change chapter tactics and maybe a few special units as well (such as Ravenwing bikers and Death company units).
Although i do belive that both SW and BT are unique enough to have a codex to themselves.

They did that once.
DA and BA are so different
Dark Angels are long range shooters.
Blood Angels are close range/ combat experts.
SW are mixed but they are norse like.
BT are good at killing pyskers and xenos with no problems. (Except suck against demons.)
The only chapter I see that is deserving of its own codex is the Soul Drinkers.

Soul Drinkers have a Fandex i've heard it's pretty good.
The codex are split because of organisational differences and both DA and BA could simply have sa few special characters and maybe some units whereas both BT and SW have very different organisation from the norm and as such can't really be represented with only a few special characters and units.

So few people collect them.
It be funny if they came out with this
Black Templar Battle Force
Contains
20 Crusader Marines
15 Scouts.
That would be so awesome XD

The point of the post was to see what everyone thinks that should be added to further differentiate the marines codex? Since it already exists...dont be lazy and answer play a xeno race... BA and SW are just fine...Although in my opinion SW has nothing much special in terms of special units...their fluff is interesting... Now DA and BT...lacks alot of variety...their units seem kinda boring but their fluff is interesting...anyway of spicing up their codex?

They seem kind of boring because of their age mostly. The generic SM codex took a bunch of stuff from the DA which afterwards the SW did the same. This really leaves them with being able to field the most Land Speeders as their main difference.

Might want to point out that Templars don't get sergeants in their crusader squads. Since we pretty much ignore the Codex Astartes when we feel like it, we don't have companies, and thus the Sword Brethren, our veterans, only fight alongside eachother. Oh, and the "hey, we're as many as around six or seven normal chapters" part is kinda fun too.
