Just so you all know this is a proxy list I'm testing this out to see if I want to use it. I'm not planning on entering tournaments but I still want to win my friendly games sometimes. Thoughts on how Awesome it is would be preferred. Also suggestions. This is my list for my next game for sure I'm not changing before then any suggestions though will go into games following my one tomorrow.

Before you read I put my dedicated transports in a separate section than the uunits they go with just for my benefit. I have them all labeled and designated to which unit they will be for.

Coming very close to breaking the rules of point breakdowns on dakka.

Without an Avatar this list will get chewed up.

- Add an avatar, give the farseer fortune for the avatar.
- All defender guardians take a Scatter lasers
- Dire Avengers and Storm Guards go in the tanks
- Stones for walkers is pointless
- Take dual scatters on war walkers

You have to mangle points to make those changes, but that will make the list competitive. #1 you'll have to have an avatar and fortune

Yea I was thinking of trying out avatar for my next game. Also I would always have dual scatts on my war walkers and scatts on my guardians BUT tomorrow I am going to be playing my friends proxy tau list which is a bit vehicle heavy and my scatts wont even glance on a roll of 6 so I went in favor of the EML's. Also quick question If I have scatter lasers on my guardians can they shoot and assault? or can they not because a scatter laser is a heavy weapon?

I also would bring avatar for this list but for the strat I have in my head I went in favor of more heavy weapons to outflank I don't want all my stuff moving up the middle.

Every heavy weapon option mounted on a heavy weapon's platform counts as assault weapon in all respects.

ok thanks cuz for my startegy I need to be able to fire all my guns then assault to do well, and I wasn't 100% sure whether or not the platforms allowed you to assault with them.

Looking for some advice before the game eh? I actually ended up changing my list quite a bit just now. You know how I want to do a Farsight army? I figured why practice a army when I don't intend to even get some of the models. So know that my list is less vehicle heavy(so Dual scatter lasers would be a good idea, since it is a good idea regardless of specific targets.) and that my list isn't hyper competitive. Here is hoping for a fun game. My proxies are going to either be orks for footsoldiers(few and far between), and paper cutouts of bases/vehicles that I do not yet have. Pretty much though all I would need to get to make this list is a couple pirahnnas, some more devilfish, and then suits suits suits suits suits.
I am kind of intrigued by your outflanking strategy though. We will need to see how this goes.

Yea I gathered and I think I still will run the EML's because 1. they are kinda versatile and 2. I have homework to do and can't be bothered to rework my entire proxy army right now. And yes my strategy will work quite well. We are more than likely going to have fun because I am essentially using an eldar hoard army. If I end up liking this army I will increase it to 2500 points and have 110 models in my troop category alone. its gonna be stupid big.

Forgive me if I don't want to do a 2500 proxy list. I want to just take my time and enjoy myself with tau, not rush and end up getting nothing painted like my orks

I'm saying that if I like the way this army plays I will more than like buy the stuff to make it and then build up from there to a 2500 point list I have been laughing at in my head.

Just curious, but this 2500 list wouldn't happen to contain an Avatar and Eldrad would it?

So I'm pleased with this list I won my first game with it because of the WW's with EML's. Now I want to edit it a bit more. I have revised slightly and am left with 169 points. What should I spend said points on?

They avatar is a good choice, as that fearless mob will be pretty intimidating.

A few clerical things, if you are running your war walkers in a squadron, then strictly speaking spirit stones don't do anything. Vehicle squadron rules already reduce stunned to shaken. Further the walkers themselves are miss priced. A single war walker with 2 missile launchers costs 70 points. a squad of three will run you 210.

Second a Warlock with Conceal is only 35 points. Therefore those 2 guardian squads should only cost 120 points, you also have your enhance locked priced wrong. 10 Storm Gus and a warlock with enhance will run you 120 points as well.

Strategy wise, Storm Guardians with enhance are not going to cut it. Storm Guardian's claim to fame is their ability to take 2 special weapons. Ditch Enhance for Destructor, and cram them into one of those wave serpents. They will always be mediocre in close combat, as they are s3, t3 in paper mache armor. They are a special weapon delivery system that can charge in a pinch. don't let those swords fool you.

You should also consider getting fortune on your farseer. That really makes your Avatar stick around longer. The last thing you want is him getting focused down without re rolls on any of his saves and trying to deal with leader ship 8 on guardians who are good at dieing by the droves.

Gotcha I was totally under the assumption that the war walkers waepons loadout was 20 points for the two EML's. Also other points wise I hope that the warlock stuff didn't push me too much in my favor. Any tips on how to keep my serpents alive longer in my last game I had 3 and they were gone by turn 3 i think.

Just to be nitpicky, doom costs 25 points, so that farseer costs 135 points, and as I said before your conceal warlock squads only cost 120 points.

you still don't have fortune, which worries me. Trust me you do not want to deal with not fearless guardians. The Avatar is also your only real source of close combat support in an army whose effective range is about... 12 inches.

I'd also invest on some better weapons for your Defender Squads. The shuri cannon is nice and cheap and all, but I'd rather shell out the extra 15 points and get your defenders some missile launchers. The grav platform rules means it still counts as an assault weapon, and the extra range and versatility can help a lot. putting 4 more missile launchers into your list will also help spread out your anti tank, making it harder for enemies to destroy your anti mech in one shooting phase.

As for 2000 points, Eldrad, Harlies, and some sword lance lords.

As for advice on how to keep wave serpents alive, it essentially comes down to 3 factors.
1) Target Saturation- the more wave serpents you have the more will survive. Fire Prisms and Falcons with Holofields are also excellent at drawing fire away from Serpents and staying alive

2) Use of Cover- Get those 4+ saves whenever possible. Take advantage of flat out when you need to advance, and don't stand in firing lanes. Broadsides / longfangs / Devs are slow to reposition, keep some stuff between you unless you are flat outing, and you'll almost always have at least a 4+ against these units.

3) Target Priority: Eldar tanks are fast, and can deliver quite a bit of fire power to a location on the board- usually before your opponent can fully react. Figure out what units your opponent relies on to take out your tanks and kill / disable them quickly. For instance, all the shield drones in the world won't save a broad side squad from being tied up all game by some guardians .

You're always going to lose a few tanks, especially against a good opponent who keeps his anti tank spread out through his list, but with good play- you can make it a lot harder for your opponent to demech you quickly.

ok I don't know what your looking at to get these totals for my seer and warlocks but but a 10 man gaurdain squad is 80 points+shuricannon 5points+warlock 25points+conceal 15points= 125 points not 120

Same thing with my seer 55+RoWi 10points+stones 20Points+guide 20points+doom25 points=130 points

So either your looking at something else for both or one of us has the wrong codex.

also I will definitely take the flatout Idea to heart.

I'm pretty sure that Conceal and Destructor are 10 points. I don't have my codex on me at the moment, but I'm nearly certain that enhance is the only 15 point power.

Also my bad about the farseer, I was reading runes of warding for some reason... speaking of which, Warding is a far better choice for an all comers list. I would definitely take that upgrade. 15 points for one of the best psychic defenses in the game is a bargain.

I still think you need fortune and some sort of close combat support like harlequins, for when things inevitably smash into your lines.

I own a squad of harlies, should I drop the fire dragons and then just equip all my wave serpents with EML's to make up for the loss of anti tank?
