Armed with new-found knowledge of Daemons, Bootman has made a list which he hopes will be effective. But Bootman is not yet totally overcome by his own ego, and knows that there are many places to improve. The best right now is Dakka. With a large 40k fanbase here to support each other, Bootman hopes to go to his 40k group next week better then ever

First Wave: Herald of Khorne/Bloodcrushers w/ instrument
x7 Plaguebearers
x7 Plaguebearers
Fiends
Herald of Tzeentch
Daemon Prince

Kheralds team up with Crushers, Princes/Tzeralds provide support wherever needed, including assualt for the princes. Fiends hold up enemy units and cripple them before running away and letting the Crushers steam roll them. Plaguebearers hold objectives.

Thoughts?

I think you could use another troop choice, maybe some horrors with Bolt and Changeling? I don't know what you would drop, maybe a DP. Still, 3 small groups of plaguebringers don't strike me as being sufficient, even for daemons. Thats just my 2 cents though.

Hey Bootman, some musings one your list:

You have a lot of Icons, and to boot (pun intended) you have them on a lot of units that should (?) go in your second wave. Droping them may generate some points. I'm going to list my suggestions for amendments below and a list that I'd make with a similar theme:

- Drop the Icons from the Plaguebearers, also, drop two Plaguebearer squads to 5 models.
- Drop the Iron Hide from the Princes, they allready have a 4++ save and the cost of 30 points to add a 3+ save which gets negated by half the shots aimed at them isn't worth it IMO. Add Gaze, MCs shoot two weapons while moving, this way you can use that ability.
- Legion on the Heralds will rarely be a necesity. You can do without.
- They Heralds of Khorne don't add all that much to your Crusher squads. I'd make the Crushers complex by adding all the upgrades, adding an additional Crusher to each unit and see what the freed points will buy you.
- Adding an MC will protect your princes by diluting the incomming fire, target saturation.
- Add Flesh Hounds, they can protect you Fiends and your troops by tying up stuff and being fast. They add a moderate threat to Mech which is needed (Razorbacks and Chimera's seem to be popular and can be destroyed by charging Hounds).

Suggested list:

HQ: (470p)
Bloodthirster of Khorne - Might - 270
Herald of Tzeentch - Chariot - Bolt of Tzeentch - Master of Sorcery - 100
Herald of Tzeentch - Chariot - Bolt of Tzeentch - Master of Sorcery - 100

Elites: (670p)
x5 Bloodcrushers - Icon - Fury - Instrument - 240
x5 Bloodcrushers - Icon - Fury - Instrument - 240
x6 Fiends - Unholy Might - 190

Troops: (255p)
x7 Plaguebearers - Instrument - 110
x5 Plaguebearers - 75
x5 Plaguebearers - 75

Fast Attack: (120p)
x8 Flesh Hounds - 120

Heavy Support:(480p)
Daemon Prince - Mark of Tzeentch - Bolt of Tzeentch - Daemonic Gaze - 160
Daemon Prince - Mark of Tzeentch - Bolt of Tzeentch - Daemonic Gaze - 160
Daemon Prince - Mark of Tzeentch - Bolt of Tzeentch - Daemonic Gaze - 160

Total Points: 2000

Waves? Either frontload it by putting the Crushers, Thirster and Princes in the first wave or spread evenly by putting Thirster, 2 Princes, 1 Crushers, Hounds and Fiends in the first, that way you have a more decent second wave for bad luck scenario's

Hope this helps.
