Hi Folks,
So I just got into painting a few months ago and after completing a couple of squads of marines thought i'd try and take my time on a figure, i also wanted avoid washes and dry brushing and try different techniques.
So I had a go at a rune priest.
So I thought I'd post the picture to see anyone would be kind enough to give any constructive critism as I amkeen to learn and get better
cheers
(sorry it seems to have turned side ways. i'll try and fix that when I get home)

Interesting colour scheme I like the way you have gone with it the paint looks nice and smooth I think he could benefit from some basic edge highlighting on the armour nothing drastic just pick out the raised areas with a lighter grey then maybe an even lighter grey on the extreme edges.

Looks like a fantastic start man. I would say you need to draw more attention towards his face however, but not necessarily on it.
The face should be the 'focal point' of just about any character model... meaning the area of most contrast highlight - which you've done. But if you ignore the area surrounding the face then it looks too stark and the result is - zombie face. Right now the face is very bright but the area around it remains too much in the background.
It is slightly counter intuitive to the zenith highlighting idea, but you want to draw peoples eyes to the right place... the face, and typically also the sword/axe blade. Imagine a bright halo surrounding his entire face... and highlight accordingly.

I really like the face. It looks like war paint and looks rather.. scary. Reminds me of the Scotts when they went to battle against the English.
Besides the face and the cloth, the rest of the model looks base coated. I would be adding black for shading and highlights.
