Stealth says it improves cover saves by 1 and turbo-boost gives you a 3+ save. I know this might be a a dumb question, but a 2+ save seems a little wonky (and maybe a little OP?). I just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Does the re-print give Scarab Swarms the Swarms special rule? In the original print version, they've got a clearly defined Swarms rule that is distinctly different from the BRB Swarms, which doesn't give them Stealth.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

They have a rule called small target which does the same thing as stealth.

I could be an ass, I guess, and ask "does 'move and fight in the same way as jetbikes' also grant the USR Turbo-Boost, which a unit get by being a unit of Bikes or unit of Jetbikes?"
Analogy: Does a unit which "move like jump infantry" also get to deep strike?

I'm perfectly fine with them turbo-boosting (Necrons are a 3rd edition army, I'm willing to cut them serious slack).

This is answered in the Necron FAQs. Scarabs are indeed swarms by the USR rule (so they gain all the benefits). They Move as Jetbike and gain the Turbo Boost Rule, but are still classed as Infantry for all other purposes.

Also, a 2+ cover save isnt that big of a deal. If the Scarabs are hit and wounded by any S6+ weapon, even one failed save = death. Woe befall if they get hit by a S6 Template Weapon, thusly meaning they get no cover save (and possibly no armor save, as any weapon that strong usually has a high AP), suffer instant death, and every wound is multiplied by 2 (so I would guess that for every unsaved wound the unit suffers, two bases die as a result).

Also, there are other units with 2+ Cover Saves, namely Eldar Pathfinders. I always pack a few flamers handy, since anything with a high cover save usually has a pathetic armor save and toughness.

Well I wouldn't be turbo-boosting them towards anything that nasty. Also S6 flamer-template weapons aren't that common and again I don't think I'd get close to one anyway.

Blasts of course are still an issue because the swarms rule, but a 2+ save could help with that plus you could always just spread out a bit.

Watch out for Guard, they have alot of S6 blast/template weapons that ignore cover.

Yeah my brother plays guard, I think his basilisks have killed more necrons than anything else he owns. Also banewolfs...they just slaughter everything :(

Mass Warriors kill Mech Armies like Guard. For swarms you should have no problem while using Scarabs.
