I can't picture a group of Earth Caste workers getting off work and going down the pub neither can i picture any Tau nightclubs or similar.
Also what Caste would entertainer fall under? I mean entertainer as in anything entertaining like Dancer, Stand up comedian, magician or similar.

Being a secular empire focusing on science and the greater good. Theres probably a lot of meditation, Tactic dissemination, Training and all sorts of other monotonous tasks in say a firewarriors life.

Civilians or other castes I'm not sure. I could imagine them liking Haiku's and logic based games. I could see that fitting with the empires setting. Maybe also bars and public meeting areas not dissimilar to humans. Plus whatever other establishments other member races run and own.

Sounds boring being a Tau unless you were a Fire caste Tau but then people would be shooting at you.

Well, art does also fall under the water caste, but maybe art is less segregated than other disciplines.

And I think there would be different entertainment areas for different species. That would be interesting.

What with the Tau playing out tunes on SM and IG helmets whilst kroot provide any food and everyone else just shoots railguns into the air.

I'd imagine the earth caste going home and having dinner with their families. Earth represents a strong foundation, so they have slightly large families which they would try to put first.

Vespid are hive insects, right? They'd probably spent their free time serving the queen, expanding their hives and caring for their larvae.

The vespids come from a world(s) filled with toxic gas and mine the crystals to use in their technology. It stand to reason that those not out fighting build the empire and continue mining operations. As for recreation, I would guess races (they fly after all) and other sporting events reflective of their environment

I think hunting is more like it, as kroot gain abilities and even physical trait of those they have eaten I think sports would be very unbalanced. Maybe play fights and weapons crafting

According to the limited fluff available, Tau art forms include architecture, sculpture, imagery, poetry, and music/song.

Creative prose writing can be inferred from the fact that Tau are persuasive speakers, and therefore can be seen to organise their thinking into semantic units with a high degree of imagination and empathy.

Playwriting and opera can be further inferred from the above.

It is not clear if Tau have a sense of humour and what form that might take. if they do, I can imagine the Fire and Earth Castes being drawn to broad, physical comedy while the Ethereals and Water Caste probably prefer verbal comedy.

Dance, while not specifically mentioned, seems an obvious development for any somatic species, being related to military drill and other co-ordinated activities such as hauling ropes. The same goes for sports, which are healthy and team building.

Given their advanced communication technology, the equivalent of radio, TV, the Internet, and iPods, etc. to disseminate various forms of entertainment seem highly likely.

Virtual reality is used in training, and probably forms the basis of various sorts of games for children and adults.

While not specifically mentioned, lower tech games using dice, cards and boards seem an obvious inference from the other aspects of Tau culture.

Tau are also known to brew alcoholic beverages.

They are also sexual, so there may be sexual activity of a recreational nature.

There is no particular reason to suppose that these activities are restricted to any single caste, though you would probably find that popular TV presenters and actors are more likely to be Water caste for their natural eloquence.

In general, it seems likely that Tau enjoy a wide variety of leisure activities, similar to humans.

Given their predilection for communal activity, I imagine that organised clubs and public ceremonies are fairly common, in the same way that religious activities, 12 O'Clock Hates and the like, are imposed within IoM culture.

Given the slight japanese flavour to the tau, i can see earth caste karaoke.

Dancing (ballet) would definetly come under the water caste.

I can see kroot, human and other non tau having bars like you see in sci fi films, with gambling, boxing, more violent (legal and illegal) fights

i can see Kroot being basketball pros.

They watch anime, play hentai games, and farm gold on MMO's
