Kill Teams Doubles Tourney coming up at the local Hobby Shop, 200pts each 2v2 kill teams missions 2 x 3 foot table Medium to heavy terrain. Force Org: 0-2 Troop 0-1 Fast Attack 0-1 Elite. No Vehicles, No HQ, No Heavy Choises, No Named Characters.

What do you think the best kill team build would be at this point value?

What killl teams would work best together?

I was thinking some kind of Tau and Chaos team. Tau covering the Range, Chaos to get in close but, I have never really played much in the way of kill teams missions, just wondering what you guys thought.

And that, kiddies, is the best way to both win at Kill Teams and lose every friend you ever had.

Orks W-L-D

Daemons W-L-D

This is what a friend and I came up with.

I would feild Orks:

14 Grots 2 Runt Hearders

14 Grots 2 Runt Hearders

5 Burnas 2 feilded as Meks with Mega Blasters

37 models

199pts

My Friend would feild Guard:

20 Conscripts

20 Conscripts

4 Ratlings

44 models

200pts

In a Kill Team game where every model moves and fires independntly and most people would most likely feild stronger units of 10 to 15 models. This would give us 81 models that can only be targeted indavidualy! It would take a long time to wipe us out and we would have a ton of low strength fire coming from everywhere! The volume would be what we count on to take out the other kill teams. If anything it would be funny!

I assume there would be rules against vehicles? I could see an iron clad fearlessly eating away with only 6 models threatening it

with IG i'd wanna so something pseudo fun like a vet squad and a hellhound. With marines prolly just take 5 assault termies, With daemons 5 bloodcrushers ... maybe horrors ... that's a good amount of firepower

Ig do best with what ive seen with 2 vet sqiads with camo cloaks cuz kill teams is supposed to be heavy terrain and lots of terrain utilizes camo.

Also, you cant take just conscripts, youd have to take the corresponding platoon organization.

Orkz would be an interesting idea but with no armor and nothing to screen them but maybe grots isnt the best imho

The most effective thing I've come up with so far is 200 points worth of Space Marine Sternguard Veterans, Special Ammo is amazing in this situation...

The main idea behind that build besides the fact that it is funny, is lets say someone did terminator assault squad at 200pts and lets say their partner brought a sternguard vet squad at 125 pts all geared out to 200 pts We would out number them 8 to 1

In the assault you only attack single model vs single model not whole units. So charge into a grot or conscript and use all four attacks on that one guy, Cool! One down 80 to go!

Shooting, would be the best wy to take us out but it would depend on how many shots you get and how many hit.

The idea is that hopefully with all of those weak BS3 / S3 grots and BS2 / S2 rapid fire Conscripts

Backed by 4 Ratlings 3 Burnas and 2 Meks with S8 AP2 Custom Mega Blastas

Something has to get through, and it only has to get through 10 times!

****

Thanks Nenya, I didn't see that we would need to run the Platoon Command Squad, so that would cut it down to...

1 Platoon Commander with bolt pistol 4 Guardsmen

4 Ratlings

32 Conscripts

41 Models

200pts

That with The Ork ally of

14 Grots 2 Runt Hearders

14 Grots 2 Runt Hearders

5 Burnas 2 feilded as Meks with Mega Blasters

37 models

199pts

78 Models

Anyways, we arn't trying to make a win at all cost list or anything. Just trying to have fun. I think the list is actually kind of viable. It mainly depends on the Toughness of the enemy, and how fast they can clear us out but, eventually one of these S3 Shots have to make it through!

Your IG friend is still missing the 2 IG squads he needs to take. Yes 130 points is eaten up just by taking bare minimum platoon

Like i said... 200 pts ig is vets with camo cloaks. Exactly 200 pts not a lot to worry about strategy wise. You can seperate your shooting if they have multiple shots before you roll.

Seriously though, kill teams is a shoting game. Assault armies ate lasgun fire so bad it was humiliating. Mass fire is ideal and having 3+ cover on a dense table is ideal and the guard have it. Use it. Flaunt it.
