Ok, I've put this in modelling because while I wanna ask about a good way of fielding them, I'm more interested in what people think would be a good way to model them.

I want to field a sniper team for my new cadian army I'm just starting up. I've got 2 boxes of 5 guardsmen as a base to play around with, as well as the bits left from my 2 boxes of 10 troops and some snipers from a space marine sniper squad. Oh, and bits from the command sqaud sprue left over. of course i can buy new parts if people have some suggestions.

So has anyone got any ideas on modelling the unit? the snipers from the marine scout squad would do it as well as the sniper from the command sprue... but i want them to stand out a bit more than just your average guardsmen with a sniper in his hand. I saw someone had done cloaked heads and capes from a woodelves which looked pretty good but they were out of stock online of the parts, and having them delievered to where i live in china is hit and miss... infact buying any warhammer is hard here...

last question... fielding them... would they be best as a special weapons sqaud? I havent got the codex with me but if memory serves me right thats 6 men... 3 spotters and 3 snipers. I'd much rather lose the spotters but I don't think thats possible.

I'm looking foward to some great ideas, and sorry for the long post... I'm bored sat in my girlfriends office....

Field them on the heavy weapons bases as 2 man teams. Make one a spotter and one a shooter with appropriate bits. Your kit contents sound like you could make pretty dynamic stuff.

Magnetise the snipers ans spotters to the bases for easy removal in play.

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

While a HW base would be neat from a modeling perspective, you'll probably have better game luck with them on standard (separate) bases because it will be easier to put them in buildings.

Moddelling the rifles is fairly easy, this is how I did it for my loast and damned army
1.Cut off the barrel bit off the end of cadian lagun.
2.Add a length of plastic tube
3.file the top and add another small pice of tubing as scope
4get two thin piecs of green stuff and put over top of scope so look like bracings

Wont win competitions but it does the job.
