Subject: Armour of Silvered Steel?
|
 |
Stubborn Eternal Guard
|
quick question and couldn't find anything in the FAQ;
does the Armour of Silvered Steel count as light or heavy armour, it is classed as neither in the BRB, just wondering as a 2+ save would be nice for a wood elf wild rider noble!
If this has already been discussed then I apologise,
Any enlightenment?

It is not classified. It is just a +2 armor save that can not be improved(ie shield, mounted, etc.)

Take the heavy armour - ward save item. Gives you a decent combo (4+ 4+ is almost as good as 2+ unmodified) that is significantly better than a 2+ armour save as soon as your opponents are S4 and above.

Wish I could but can't take the Armour of Destiny, it is classed as Heavy armour and Wild rider Kindreds can only Take magical Spears or Magical Light Armour , Hence why I was asking for clarification on Armour of Silvered Steel

What? The only restriction on taking magical armor is that wizards can't take any unless they have mundane armor, and that you can't take both magical armor and a shield. So if you've got the point for it, enjoy that 2+ save on your noble (though Armor of Destiny is indeed a better buy). EDIT Or is this a poncy WE thing, that he can literally only take magical light armor or magical spears? In which case, ignore me - Salvage

Yes, its a WE thing
You CAN take magical armour and a normal shield, just not an enchanted one.

Wait, am I reading that correctly that in general you can not take both magic armor and a normal shield on a normal character? Or can you only take the shield and fancy armor if the shield is in your profile as an option (so a WoC sorc could buy magic armor OR a magic shield, but not a normal shield since it isn't in the options list, but an exalted hero could get a regular shield then fancy magic armor?)

If you can take a normal shield you CAN take a normal shield and magical armour. You cannot take both fancy shield and fancy armour, as that would be two selections from the same section.

Ok cool, that's what I was thinking, but I will admit I still get a little turned around when doing the item building. I need to get around to making a spreadsheet of all the different items in their categories. For some reason going between the WoC book and the BRB gets me lost. :(
thank you sir!
