Subject: So them WoC?

Alright, I have a VC army. I dont normally play WFB, I do my 40k thing. I was just browsing the GW website, and in the Fantasy section, I noticed Warriors of Chaos. I liked the look. I normally hate chaos, but something about those chaos warriors is just... good. I like them. I wouldn't mind having an army, as they seem like an elite hard hitting army. And the models look great. They are bulky and tough looking, like a warrior should be. So, my question is, how do they play? Are they worth playing? Basically, give me the summary on those WoC.

WoC is one of the better lists, although tactics are somewhat limited to a bull rush. Most lists will be 3 big units of warriors, a lv4 Sorcerer, BSB and one or two supporting units.
The core of any army is the Warrior, see http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/323119.page for opinions on how to arm them.
Magic is adequate - Tzeetch spells still hold their own. A number of chaos magic items are rather useful - Puppet, Third Eye of TZ.
The list has a number of useful supporting units. Hoards of Marauders with Great Weapons, Chosen Death Stars, and Trolls. The list also includes a number interesting (while not completely effective) big guys: hell cannon, giant, shaggoth, Demon Prince.

Sort of like the Space Marrine of Fantasy. Not in the everybody plays them sort of way, but in the really tough super human sort of way. High stats, strong armor, and forgiving straight forward tactics.

Well if we're making 40k comparisons, then WoC would be space marine stats combined with ork strategies

There is a pretty simple summary for WOC, They are basilcy the sledgehammer of 8th, when they hit another army it WILL hurt. Oh they are ways to soften the blow, hordes for steadfast and plenty of shooting and lore of Metal are our bane, aside from that WoC bust heads better than noone else, at least as far as our core. WoC core can be expensive and hard hitting or cheap and still hard hitting, my personal advice is go Tzeentch with shields on Warriors, a good horde of Marauders with mark of khorne and Great Weapons never hurt either, decent tarpit but won't last nearly as long as Tzeentch with shields. So when doing WoC you have to decide what you want your marauders to do if and when you get them, do you want them to be a cheaper and more numerous version of Warriors, or do you want them to hold up units long enough for units to flank and smash. I'm partial to the latter myself, then again while Marauders are suppose to die in droves I don't like the idea of having them wiped out before they get to hit back if I go GW/Khorne.
Trolls are made of pure win, especially with Throgg. If you take Trolls, take Throgg, end of story. Knights are still good, but have lost their ability to hit like a hammer of the gods like they use to in 7th, great for flanking if you can afford them. I prefer a block with Chosen with Wailing banner and Mark of Tzeentch, full command and Favor of the gods. That increases what Eye of the gods buff you want signifigantly. WoC magic is decent in 8th, Nurgle is good and Tzeentch is still a contender, plus with the new rules for magic a Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord can easily get Infernal Gateway off on 4 dice, though you still have a decent chance with 3.
All and all, if you were a fan of close combat in 40k or don't mind/willing to give up shooting for magic then WoC is for you.
