Hi there,
I have just started playing Warhammer 40k and i've decided to play a Tau army.

What i have already bought is the Battleforce, a skyray and an extra crisis battlesuit and now my army contains:

12 Fire Warriors
1 Devilfish,
2 Crisis battlesuit (I use one of them as a commander)
12 kroot
3 stealth suits and a marker drone
1 Hammerhead/Skyray
6 gun drones (those on the devilfish not included).

I've made an army of about 850 points out of these models, and i want to expand it to a 1000 point force.
Can you guys please give me some advise for my next purchase(s).
All sugestions are really appreciated

Greetings,
Erealis

Broadsides are quite useful, so are Piranhas. I'd recommend getting the BS if you have to choose between them for $$$ or points reasons though.

Broadsides are a point sink with small point armies. The get assaulted ASAP and they cost you alot of points to field. I would get more crisis suits. At least one more so you can field them all as one commander and 2 bodyguards. If your using kroot I would get a shaper for the better leadership and also hounds. The hounds are the ones you want in combat since they have a higher initiative. *NOTE kroot rifle adds +1 to attack. Possible get the Hammerhead sprue so you can field your other devilfish as a hammerhead if you dont want a transport.

Get a 2nd Hammerhead (don't ever use the Skyray it is poor), and a 2nd Devilfish then flavour with pathfinders and as many crisis suits as you can purchase in the points. I'd dump the stealth team they are only really viable in 2000+ points and only then as a stealth marker team (i.e. all with 2 marker drones and team leader with marker light).

You could ditch the 2nd Hammerhead for more suits you need at least 2 squads of 2 plus the commander at 1000 points.

I wouldn't ever bother with the shaperon the Kroot, too many points for negligable benefit. Kroot are a meat shield at best anyway.

If you need to boost the kroots' morale, just stick the battlesuit commander in there.

I never thought about doing that, has any on ever taken a suit commander with a gun drone squadron? They wont hinder the movement and you can get 8 Gun drones + any drones the commander has.

But, you *buy* the Skyray box, as it has all the pieces for each tank. Perhaps the Skyray will become Aweseom-Sauce in the next 'dex.

Erealis:
At this stage, purchasing more Crisis Suits is the answer. The BForce box, your Railhead and 4 to 5 XV8s will be a great foundation for your army.

After that:
a. 2nd HH
b. Box 'o FWs
c. Another box of FWs, but put carbines on them and use 'em as Pathfinders (a lot cheaper than buying metal PF models in blister packs).
d. Flesh out to 6 to 8 Crisis Suits
e. 2 to3 Broadsides, somewhere in there. I bought the ForgeWorld models, for about $10 more than the others, and am thankful, as I don't have to deal with fragile ankles, and heavy metallic RGs. The ForgeW models, being resin, are light and sturdy, cooler looking and worth the extra cash.
