My Rhulic Gold has clumped. Is this a general problem with the P3 Rhulic Gold or is it just a coincidens?
When I ordered a new one with my supplier, the one he recieved was also clumped...

I think there was some talk of problems with their metalics in general, I don't know for sure but it has been brought up before.

if you want good metallics, check out Golden's line of stuff. You should be able to find it at your local art store. My bottles have held up for quite a while already, and still have amazing coverage.

Artist-grade supples tend to give some solid results, just make sure you're working with a soft-body paint.

Things I've gotten other players to admit...

But no one has actually experienced the same problem? :S

can't say that I have, but I don't buy P3. I've had good experience with GW's stuff, as well as my artist-grade stuff, so I can only really speak for what I use.

From my experiance you can't beat GW's line of mettallics, they are the only GW paint I still use.

I bet you got an old pot of paint. PP had a recall a couple years back of their metallics for a couple reasons.
One was the clumping. The other was their Brass balls paint expanding and exploding in the pots.

I usually use a lot of GW's Foundations and metallics. But I really like the PP Blighted Gold for its antiqued slightly green tone.

Vallejo metallics I didn't like.
I used to use a Partha Paints Steel as a base for most of my metals.
But now I use brighter metals with a wash and get the same effect with less work.

Bam, said the lady!

That was the Rhulic, actually. Still wish I'd managed to snag one for... experimentation.

Heh, explosion is probably the wrong word but that would be cool to see. GW metallics are good, but all metallics are a pain when you're used to liking you paint brush. Keep having to remind myself that they're poison...

Actually, explosion is exactly the right word. IIRC, the solvent was reacting with the pigment, which resulted in vapor build-up inside the bottle. Eventually, they built up enough so that if disturbed the lid even slightly... BOOM! And the room gets a fresh coat of gold paint.

ive experienced the same problems with their metals (mostly the gold based ones)

i fixed the problem by adding a bit of matte medium and water in it

but even then theyre really only good for drybrushing.

its really an unfortunate problem for a really good line of paints

Hey, I just met you,
and this is crazy,
but I'm a demon,
possess you, maybe?
