Hello fellow wargamers!
I'm a new Ultramarines player, and have been struggling to win games. (I have mostly played against cc heavy chaos lists) For the most part losses will be credited to bad play ofc(beeing a noob), but I just wanted feedback for a new list, which I hope will do okay. I don't want to sideboard against a chaos list, but want to make a reasonable all comers list, and learn to play that one well.
Here goes:
Master of the Forge - Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Artificer Armour; Power Sword
Tactical Squad - Flamer; Missile Launcher
Sergeant - Bolt pistol & Chainsword
Rhino
Tactical Squad - Flamer; Missile Launcher
Sergeant - Bolt pistol & Chainsword
Rhino
Land Speeder Squadron - Heavy Flamer, Multi-Melta
Land Speeder Squadron - Heavy Flamer, Multi-Melta
Vindicator, Siege Shield
Vindicator, Siege Shield
Predator - Autocannon & Heavy Bolter Spoonsoons
Total Cost: 1000
My thoughts/tactics on the list are:
Vindis & Pred, supported by MotF as a movable firebase. Pred may move off to try and kill transports.
Flank with Landspeeders to kill heavy support.
Hide and seek with tacs, then go for objectives.(Combat squad and camp with heavy weapons if non-killpoint mission)
In my limited playtime, I have been disapointed by Space Marines, from the Dawn of War pc-game series they are quite heroic(how I got recruited to wargaming). But in the tabletop game, they are a bunch of cowards, and have to be played accordingly. They call it Combat Tactics, but it is more in the lines of Monty Pythons "RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!" when they meet something scary.

Welcome to Warhammer 40K! Hope you enjoy it!
Ok, so to begin with, who is your MoTF going along with? Alone in the open, he is vulnerable to enemy fire and could easily get shot down. Do you really need a power weapon for him? Are you planning on getting him in assault in a list which seems shooting based?
The landspeeders don't quite fit here imo. They're fast and great for tank hunting, but your vindicators are just as good at this. I'd loose them to try and get a unit for your MoTF to join.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space. |

Thanks, my thoughts on the motf, was to hide him behind the armor, and just use him as a repairbot/cheap hq and cc obstacle for 1 turn if units gets to close to the armor.
It would have to be an elite choice then maybe? Rifleman dread withdual autocannons? Maybe sniper scouts to camp in a bolstered cover?

Can't go wrong with a Dual auto Dread, I've always seen them do some pretty horrific damage, or atleast makes the opponent rethink about stepping out into the open to get a clearer shot at the MoTF

If I scratch the landspeeders, I can get 1 rifleman dread & add 2 servitors to the motf.

For starters, the Master of the Forge doesn't need a power weapon as he already gets 2 "power fist" attacks from his servo harness. Unless your going to take more then 3 Dreadnoughts or for some reason you need to take Dreadnoughts as heavy Support instead of Eleite, I would suggest takeing a different HQ. MoF is by far the weakest HQ unless your takeing him in a dread spam list or throwing him on a bike with a conversion beamer. You'd be better of running this list with either a Librarian or a Chaplin.
Other then that the list looks good.
