Subject: A weird feeling when I want to paint

As some of you know, I've been looking at brettonians for a while.
But, I told myself I'd finish my space marines [painted] before I started a new army.
I've got all of 900 points left to paint [uh, 5 terminators, 5 vanguard, 14 tactical marines, and a librarian] + 2 tanks.
Everytime, I sit down to paint I start to get bored very easily.
I think it's linked to my painting the same kinds of models for too long, but it's possible I'm mistaken.
anyway, I was just seeing if other people felt this too.
Oh, I'm not a butterfly either.

Put on a podcast (gaming podcast helps even more), or an audio book while painting.
It really helps keep you into it.

+1 to listening to a podcast or audiobook. I used to put on a favorite movie in the background but now I just download a 40k podcast, Dice Like Thunder, Imperial Voxcast, etc. and listen while I paint. It really helps!
You may also want to take a break from the marines. I know you said you wouldn't start a new army before they were painted, but if you're not motivated to paint at all, then you're just denying yourself the joy of painting new and different models.
I tried this and ended up going on hiatus for almost a year until I said "fugettaboutit .... these new sculpts are awesome!" and bought some, immediately got to painting them, then found I had the motivation to finish the other models I'd previously set aside due to boredom.

You're just getting a little burned out. Happens to me a lot. I quit painting for a few weeks and play some video games instead or something like that, then I go back to painting all refreshed and finish what I was working on
I would suggest in the future, don't buy all the models you need. Seeing a pile of unopened boxes or stacks of sprues can make it seem like you have way to much work to do and then it seems like work instead of fun. Work on 1 unit or tank at a time, when you're done reward yourself by buying the next thing on your list

Yup, all the time. Last night even. I find it helps to work on multiple projects at once so you can mix things up when you get bored doing one scheme or type of model over and over.
I'm also going to try doing one model to completion at a time to see how it works out.

Treat yourself to a different mini or a character model you like.
Reward yourself by paint this mini when you finish 5 or 10 standard minis or a tank or two.
Alternatively start your Bretonian or another army with a different scheme, alternate between the different armies or schemes. This helps me break things up.

I have 3 40K armies. NONE are fully painted (though 2 are CLOSE).
I get bored of doing the same damned thing over and over again.
It is NOT just you.
I find that just putting on some music and MAKING myself sit down & do it usually gets me past that funk.
