I was wanting to check the pulse of the Warhammer community around here. Now that you've had some time with the 8th Edition rules, what has become your "standard" size for games?

I usually play 800pts with my mates, as this is the army size for WHFB in the schools league.

2.5 is the new standard at my FLGS for most cases (last tournament was 2.5k so that sort of set the standard). I usually don't play less than that unless I'm playing/teaching one of the kids at the store.

It helps that 2.5k the numbers work out rather nicely and you can have a mix of powerful units with your core.

anything from 2 to 2.5, although 2.4k is getting popular (easier to divide into percentages!)

That's just...lazy!

2.5k seems to be pretty standard, it's the point limit of the escalation league I've been in.

2500 points is the standard in Austin, TX.

We usually play 1500pts at home but at our club we play 800pts (it's the schools league size + they're quick games).

Looks like 2500 points is running away with it. I do think this is a great level, it's just that the games take a long time. I voted for 2000...

2500 lets you run most stuff without serious, serious cheese.

I'm playing at a 2000 point tourney this weekend and having a blast though. The smaller points make you really think about what to take, with larger units being all the rage these days.

So a single skaven slave VS a single Gnoblar?

2500 is the norm around here. 1500 if you need a quicker game. I don't like playing 1k too much because pretty much whoever can afford a lvl4 has too much of an advantage.

I've seen some players who won't play under 3k. I think it's because they don't want to lose their

That would be true unless they're ogres, or want to try something wacky, like two slaan or multiple dragons and so on.

2.5k seems to be the norm. Expect 2999 to be the default maximum for normal games.

Our club is currently playing 2000 point games but some members are trying to make the push towards 2400 point games. Resistance is being met by some members however. :S
