Hey guys, was playing around with "Forward Kommander" today and came up with some lists!
I wanted to try and make some lists for Zerkova, but until I lay my hands on her Model and Rules I thought I would construct for someone who I knew a little more about!

Butcher 35p List

The Butcher of Khardov's Battlegroup
- War Dog
- Beast-09
- Torch

Doom Reavers (Leader and 5 Grunts)
- Greylord Escort

Great Bears of Gallowswood

Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts)
- Widowmaker Marksman

-------------------------------------
To bring it up to 50 points, add these units.

Kayazy Assassins (Leader and 5 Grunts)
- Kayazy Assassin Underboss

Winter Guard Infantry (Leader and 6 Grunts)
- 2 Winter Guard Infantry Rocketeers
- Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich

I play pButcher as my main Khador caster so with that out there...

I don't see alot of benefit from Torch that you're not already getting somewhere else aside from the spray attack and you're covering stealth by charging it. If you want shooting in the army, I would take a Devastator instead. At least that way when (not if) it misses, it can still hit something. Both of them can be focus hungry and Butcher is kinda stingy with his Focus. A Koldun lord can run the Devastator just as well and doesn't put a Focus drain on the Butch.

The widowmakers will be bored. You'll be stuck in pretty quickly and they'll have nothing really to do. They ~might~ be able to pick off a flanking solo, but by and large they don't really fit into his list IMO.

I think you'd also be ahead to drop the two rocketeers and get a mortar for the same reason as above with the Destroyer. I'd stay away from dropping them and Torch to get a Behemoth. Again, focus hungry jack with someone who likes to use his focus to make hamburger out of people. Unless you're going for the full on WG deathstar, don't sweat the Rocketeers.

So drop the Widowmakers and the Marksman, the Torch, and also the rocketeers?

Would it be worth putting the UA in with the Winterguard?

I included the Torch because of Sustained attack and I absolutely love the model

If you expect anything out of the WG besides being a meat shield, then yes.

Sustained attack is nice, but you need to drop focus on him to get the extra attacks. Most of the time, Beast will be eating up the focus that Butcher will hand out so he'll be pretty starved to do much. Juggy's have a crit freeze on the axe as well so it's a good synergy with Beast and Butcher as well.

I'd keep the marksman just to keep enemy solo's honest. The unit though, yeah put it back in the case. If you haven't, invest in a unit of Iron Fang Pikemen and the UA. The unit is great with Butcher and Iron Flesh on them. Def 16 (assuming no concealment) arm 18 in the middle of the board on turn 1 is very hard to deal with. Concealing them is even better at def 18 or 20. That's either pushing or well into "Don't Bother" range for trying to hit them and most blasts are going to ping off Shieldwall.

How about this for a revision then?

Butcher 35p List

The Butcher of Khardov's Battlegroup
- War Dog
- Beast-09
- Juggernaut

Doom Reavers (Leader and 5 Grunts)
- Greylord Escort

Iron Fang Pikemen (Leader and 9 Grunts)
- Iron Fang Pikemen Officer & Standard

That would leave me at 31/35 if I add the marksman it takes me to 33/35 which means I have 2 points spare, which I could throw-away on a Field Gun OR add a Man-Hunter, Koldun Lord, Unit of 4 Battle Mechaniks, Sea Dog Deck Gun or ANY of the various 2 point Merc Solos

ManHunter...weapon master attacks make a scary opponent .

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Does he ever ACTUALLY get into combat though?..Most of what I see is people taking him to threaten the enemy rather than do any actual damage.

Hence why I call it scary.
Though in my limited experience he was there to hold something up (more expensive than him) and proceed to miss all his attacks but used his matrix moves to avoid attacks.

Holding up 1 of 2 arc nodes of mine was not nice at the very least :-(

Threatening the enemy can take out stuff just as effectively as destroying it.
They will throw stuff at him to get rid of him and if things go well for you, he trades his points at least.

He's a 2 pt solo that will attract at least 2 pts worth of attention until he is dead.
I tend to do the same with WarWitch Sirens or Pistol Wraiths.
Run up a flank, and your opponent has to divert something to deal with them or they will end up behind him.

Bam, said the lady!

So that's my complete 35pt list, I reckon I can wreck a decent amount of face with that!

Although if I dropped the Marksman I could change the Juggernaut for a Destroyer!

-----------------------

Were I too whack it up to 50 pts, this is how I would change it!

I play Yuri and a pair of Manhunters basically as a version of the Great Bears. They are usually in a pack but I like them better since they can ignore forests for LoS. Great for a surprise "Hi there" for a unit or caster/solo hiding on the other side thinking they are safe.
