If a bolt thrower is reduced to 1 crew can it reload, or does it basically only have one shot left once it is down to 1 crew? what about cannons and stone throwers???

Correct. Unless it states in the war machines rules that loss of crew effects preformance, having one crew member means it can still shoot normally.

well the reason I ask is that on pg111 the second sentence under bolt throwers reads:

A crew if two or more is required to wind back the powerful torsion arms and position the huge bolt for firing.

In the FAQ tho it says that bolt throwers only need 1 crew to fire. A guy at my local store says that means it can't reload thus only has 1 shot left after it drops to 1 crew. He also says that cannons and other warmachines with 1 crew take an extra turn to reload after being fired, but I can't find anything to confirm or disprove that one...

ya i see it, GW again drops the ball and creates a grey area. the part you are refering to is the Fluff section, its the discription of the machine and not the actual rules for it. but some Arse that needs a kick to the back of the head will try and use it on you any way. best advice is to point out that there is no rule that it only fires once with 1 crew member. bring your book and demand that said cheeze monkey locate where it says that it only fires once more. if he cant but still insists that his assanine rule is valid, point out each war machines first paragraph cannons, fire throwers. you'll see that it fallows the same pattern. it mentions cannons explode on a misfire, and flame throwers incinerate any one caught in a blast. its actually not really the fault of the idiot thats trying to gain a rules advantage over you. its GW's for being stupid and not proof reading properly. yes they cant catch everthing, but they should know better by now, hell theyve had 30 years to smarten up. but they still let things like this get passed them.
either way, kick the dude in the balls for me, as he deserves it for a cheep Tournament ploy. and remember, warhammer is a great game but the people that are in charge of the rules should have half there numbers clubed to death as a warning to the other half to get it right.

Basically any warmachine may fire at full effect unless it dies, suffers a misfire, or has some army-specific ruling.

Doesn't matter how many crew are left, you always fire as normal in most cases.

i could be wrong but i believe the only purpose the crew models serve in this edition is as wound counters . all attacks go against the war machine it uses the crews ws and str in close combat.

grab some marshmellows and lets watch the world burn

That's correct unless an armies special rule states otherwise. It's clearly described on pg 108.

thats what im reading as well, i cant find anything that would prevent a war machine from firing from having 1 crew member, also took this up with my gaming group and all of them agree that 100% with Kharnflakes assessment.
