Looks like even more Non British/French forces are coming into more affordable plastics! Vitcrix is now making Austrians! They plan on making 4 initial sets, each with a different head option I believe
These are some first photos of master models for our upcoming plastic Austrian sets.
Austrians in helmets
Austrians in shakos
Austrian grenadiers
Austrian Landwehr
The sets will comprise 36 or 48 figures, (this is to be decided so please send us your views on this). Some customers have already commented that they would prefer the 48 man units for some rules sets as Austrians did field larger battalions than most other European nations. The main position will be march attack pose as this is the most frequently requested position. However there will be extra arm positions to add the character and conversion possibilities you have come to expect from our figures.
The command sprue will be separate on these sets so you don't have any command figures left over. As well as a great looking officer, standard bearer, drummer and sergeant options we have included a fantastic mounted officer. The arms of the foot and mounted officer are interchangeable so you can get lots of variety of pose. The figures are having a few minor changes done to them at present and then we will update you again with some more photos.
No exact release date for these at present but we are looking at early 2011.

Could those heads be put on Imperial 40K Guardsmen?

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase. |

They would not scale well with other 40k Products, if I recall correctly. But they look great, I am resisting the urge to paint up some Austrians.

Victrix mini's are too small to be used w/ GW unless without a fairly drastic conversion
EDIT: Dagstryy got to it right before me, apologies for the duplicate

I know what you mean, I have to keep form shouting "Form square!" at inappropriate moments.
I do think from a gameplay (rather than modelling/panting) Napoleonic stuff works better at a smaller scale. I used to play a 2mm Napoleonic game, which was awesome (but slooooooooooooooooooooooooooow).
Anyhoo, really nice models.

Personally I love historicals and these are some top notch Austrians that Victrix has done. On a side note I really hate, and I have said this before, that when people on this forum see historicals their first thoughts are " Man those could be nice in my 40k army", as opposed to "Man those make me want to start painting historicals".

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Good to see Vitrix finally doing a set the Perrys won't be doing for a while but really why four sets when two boxes would have done. One box to cover the Austrians and one for the Hungarians on a more possative note its a step forward having a mounted officer in the box.

For all of the wargaming I have done in my life, I have never played Napoleonics, which is weird, as I have always loved the look of the uniforms.
