Hello again, here is a hopefully nice little 1000 point Mech list, but i do need a bit of help finishing it off....

Farseer (Doom) 80

Fire Dragons x5 80

Storm Guardians x10 (2x flamer) 92
-Warlock (Destructor) 35
Storm Guardians x10 (2x flamer) 92
-Warlock (Destructor) 35

3x Wave Serpents (this is where i need the help mainly....) 270 (+ 86 points for upgrades)

2x Fire Prism 230

Right, basically i want to know what to give the wave serpents, my origional idea, was two of them having TL shuriken, non Tl shurken and spirit stones, and the other one, just a EML, but that leaves me 4 points over (which if i don't ever use this in competitive play, it doesn't matter too much, but i may do....) Should i ditch the spirit stones?
(also, does the 2x storm guardians and 1 squad of fire dragons work here? I think, at 1000 points having 5 fast skimmers on the table will cause quite a few problems for the opponent anyway.....)

Pretty solid list at a 1000pts. Personally not a fan of Storm Guardians, but I hear good things. Definitely go with EMLs and no spirit stones so you have your long range shots to de-transport your Guardian's targets before you get there. People quickly forget how incredibly useful a 60" threat range with a s8 shot can be

Definitely EMLs on your Guardian Serpents. And a shuriken cannon on your FD one.

That gives you enough points(16) to either give your FD serpent Spirit stones or your Farseer Runes of Warding. Runes of Warding is a better choice here, imo.

Anyway, really cool list, I might try it myself.

I really like this list, and think your right about weapon choice....time start buying i think.....(although i also need a paint scheme )
Going to have to convert Storm Guardians as well, using normal guardians and Dark Elf CCW and possibly heads (probably wraithlord flamer as flamers..... ?) (i didn't come up with this myself...the wonders of a google search )

I like Tri-flamer Storm Guardians, but I wouldn't recommend taking them as your only troop units. They are just too squishy and (relatively) expensive imo, unlike Avengers they actually need to get out of the vehicle at some point which makes them risky to use as your only scoring units. I always use them together with Avengers, I play the Storm Guardians more aggressively and keep the Avengers safer. Might be a bit tight for points, but I would drop one unit down to a 5 man Avenger unit and buy them in a Falcon rather than a Serpent (Holos, Scatter Laser, Spirit Stones, underslung Cannon). If you switch the Seer to Guide this gives you good backfield fire support (2 Prisms + a guided Scoring Falcon) and the Storm Guardians + Dragons to push forward.

I've found that you can definitely get away with not running Spirit Stones on some Serpents depending on their role. For Avengers and vehicles which are hanging back you can get away with not having them as being stunned for a turn is rarely going to cause you too many issues (as you shouldn't be in assault range anyway). For Fire Dragons and Flamer Guardians they are much more valuable as they need to be dropped off in close to kill things. Having the Spirit Stones makes sure that your Serpents don't get stuck in close.

Generally with Serpent weaponry you want to make the scoring ones more of a threat (draw fire away from more powerful units, can still hurt things if you lose your more powerful units etc) and the elites/Fire Dragon ones cheaper (as they tend to die more). TL Shuriken is ok, but I've found the range and extra shot of the Scatter Lasers to be far more valuable, so I make sure all my Serpents have Scatters as a minimum (even Fire Dragons) unless I am really short on points (like a 500pt game or something silly like that). Generally I avoid EML, Scatters are better against AV11 (or 10), deal with infantry just as well and can still glance AV12. Against tougher AV13-14 targets the Bright Lance is better (and is also AP2 which is very helpful with FNP). In part this is due to the lack of IG in my area, I'm mostly facing AV11 walls rather than AV12 walls, but even then your mobility should allow you to get around this anyway.
I would also avoid taking underslung Cannons for the most part, I tried using them for a while but found I was moving 6" so I could make use of them far more than I really should have (and putting myself in bad situations as a result) so I dropped them. In my 1750pt list pulling the underslung Cannons off all the Serpents was enough points to add a Vyper which I was far more likely to fire. Having every vehicle in your army able to move 12" and still fire to full effect is pretty good.

There was an Eldar Storm Guardians box out for a while, I'm not sure if GW still stock it but you might be able to find some floating around. I had two of the old 8 man boxes and ended up using Guardian bodies and spare swords and pistols from the Avenger sprue to get enough for 2 10 man units. You get parts for two Exarchs per box and even if you actually use them you don't equip them with swords (and there is the spear as well).
