90$ for 5 models? What? They're excellent models, sure...But why so expensive?

Because they are molded from the tears of virgins.

But really, what answer are you looking for?

Ah, truuuee. Well, basically, I want to know if some artist is demanding GW sell them for this much or something...I dunno

Shouldn't they be closer to 50$ though? 90 dollars gets me a lot of stuff that isn't blood knights. I see no reason not to proxy with chaos knights, tbh.

Blood Knights are the strongest Cavalry In the fantasy universe, they will have no problem wiping out entire units with the banner of blood, only a high level character could hurt them

Because GW likes to charge $15 for individual metal cavalry, so this time they just upped it to $18 because "of how strong they are" and put 5 of them in a box? That's my guess.

Ah, I see. I'm not familiar with their stats, but that sounds pretty good

They look like excellent models, honestly. I might not feel too bad paying 20 dollars per model on them. 90$ is actually a bargain for five of them.

Don't do that, chaos nights are too bulky, go for Dark Elf cold one riders and a pack of regular horses, they look much closer aside from the lack of bat wing styles.

Plus they're good looking models and then you have some awesome cold ones freed up to use elsewhere.

You can take the new Dragon princes and convert them into BKnights really nicely. Other than that, they're $20 metal models. As an ogre player, that's cheap. Mine are over $20 per metal model.

Will you ever be running more than 5 of them?

That is why they are so expensive, GW expects you to buy them once, and never again IF you play VCs... so they need to bleed you for everything they can.

You read my mind. The less figures you will need in your army, the more GW will charge you for said figure. Basic marketing. That is why they charge $18-$20 for a metal Space Marine Captain, because you will only need one or two.

Are blood kinights really that good? Looking at their stats they don't seem incredibly superior to their counterparts in other factions and their points cost is through the roof.

Seems like you can get similar results for less cost with Grail Knights/Chaos Knights/Dragon Princes etc...

We're watching you... scum.

GW usually charge more for the more powerful (desirable) figures, they can do this because they effectively control both the supply and (through manipulation of the rules) the demand.

It's the Australian prices that get me, the box of 5 Blood Knights is $150. Which according to my currency converter is £93 or £18 a pop.

Wow.

Correct and this is why their money cost is even MORE absurd.. Theyve never been very good game-wise so there is no reason people would even spend the money to get them. Solid marketing? Hardly.. The product needs to be worth spending money on first

Basically theyre chaos knights but for an EXTRA 15 points you get lower initiative, a lower armor save, and the stupid crumble rule (Or 9 pts more if the knights have a mark). Where as chaos knights dont die if you lose combat by 2. Basically same problem with almost every other heavy cavalry unit.. Theyre overcosted and worse compared to chaos knights

So what, chaos knights can have frenzy too.. Thats why I said or 9 points more per model as that counts mark of khorne :p

Or can just take frenzy banner and they never lose it

Only armies that have a super heavy armor have 1+ save knights.. IE empire or chaos

With a Lore of Metal spell floating around that cooks people in their armour, Blood Knights and Chaos Knights are best avoided these days IMO.

VC are rarely known for their AS's. More likely than not you wouldn't be taking Lor of Metal against a VC army. Against WoC though, well that's all I'd be taking against them =P

I think an important distinction in 7th was that they had lances on top of that Strength 5. So they could charge in, and (if they had the hatred banner) frequently a unit of 5 would be wiping out the first couple of ranks of whatever they hit. In 7th, without steadfast, this frequently meant breaking and running down that unit.

Now, they've got liabilities in that matchup...

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

Again, chaos knights have both of those.. For a HIGHER point cost you get WORSE stats with blood knights is my point

But the point is that, relative to the other units in the book, they are worth more to a VC player.

Being able to resurrect members of the unit, magically charge / gain ASF on an 8+ isnt to be sneezed at either. The Bloodbus was vaguely effective in 7th.

Yeah...but you still get an entire army for $100...since your models are like 600 points a pop

I heard there was an artist/ sculptor dispute. So perhaps more money for this individual unit.

I'm not sure If I buy into that rumor; but I do belive that it lies in the fact that they are a popular (well...not as popular as they were) and that this unit was the ultimate elite unit in one of the most powerful (formerly?) armies.
So everyone who was 'serious' about the army would sink the cash into it.
everyone else.....would just convert theirs.

They are gorgeous models, but wow....just absurd.
Like the Beastmen Centigors. 60 bucks for 5....that look like rubbish.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

I believe Blood Knights actually used to be considered character models I would guess that + all that helps to explain it.

Admitedly they seem a bit high priced.

They're probably really, really nice sculpts.

At least... one would hope... 'cause you could have bought a battalion with that...

As for the effectivness of Blood Knights... does NOBODY see the benefit of 3 S6 attacks on the charge? On top of that, you can raise new ones!

Honestly, unless you want those specific sculpts I wouldn't bother, since you'll probably want an extra couple of models thanks to Invocation of Nehek.
