Hey Dakka, just wondering what some good alternate Ork models are. I know some people make Ork heads, but if there are any full orks, that would be awesome.

Fantasy Orcs fit well with 40k Orks.
pretty much anything else i can think of are either really Nice Bitz that go on basic Ork bodies, or Full models that just look like utter garbage(IMO).

I've had a look around for alternate models too, just to add some variety to my army. Alas I've not found any sci-fi Ork alternatives yet. :(

Yeah I have to agree. GW Fantasy Orcs work for Orks. I have converted some black orcs into nobs and they look great. Using bits from other companies works well, also. GW space Orks really do have a unique look when you consider the face and body proportions, so I have found it doesn't work to even slap a gun on ork(c)s from other companies. Of course if you have a 30 boy mob, one or two deformed-looking guys aren't going to matter.
That all said, the folks that make the ork heads have hit it exactly. They make bodies, too, that will work well. I have a set of each waiting for conversions.
You could possible turn just about any goblin or gnoblar from GW into a grot. Fantasy goblins from other lines seem to work OK too.
