So I played my first game against my friend a 1,250 pt battle against Daemons. I ran 2 large groups of Bulls and some Gnoblars and I just got my butt handed to me hard. The Ogres were demolished before they had a chance to fight back and their WS3 mostly wiffed on the WS5 Bloodletters. I have also acquired a small goblin army, 3 lobbas, 2 doom divers 6 spear chukkas, fanatics, all the fun tools. And I am debating selling my Ogres at an upcoming bazaar. I do like the Ogre and Greenskin cultures. I initially chose Ogres as my first army because I thought the bigger figures would be easier to paint but I can paint goblins fine. I do really really like the shooting phase and Ogres are lacking there and the warmachines of the goblins are awesome and I may expand to an O&G army. Fanatics look like great fun as well and I plan on taking as many as I can.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

I think both are great choices. Howeve, rumor has it that the next army book in the spring will be O&G. So you might have the "hawt new army" if you stick with them . Plus, they're just awesome!
Ogres can actually hang in 8th so I am personally loving them, and they would be the ones I'd pick. All up to your preference, though

Both are fun armies. I think Ogres come into their own at larger point levels though. 1250 might just be to small for them, but I'm not an ogre player so don't know for sure.

Thanks for the advice, I have about 3k worth of Ogres and only about 1/2 are built. I also hate the Miscast system on Ogre Buffs, I rolled double 6s I know it's rare only being able to roll 2 dice as a butcher I got the spell off but lost my butcher meaning I lost the buff. I didn't even get the benefits of the spell cast. Kind of a small compaint but still.

The orge miscast table is a lot more forgiving than the main rulebook one.
Both armies do different things. Unless your hankering for money I'd hang on to both.

GREEN IZ BEST!
On a serious note, ogres play much better at higher points levels. There's a guy at my FLGS who won't play under 3k games because then he can't take all his fun ogre units.
I play the greenskins personally, and the warmachines you have are great! The doom diver is a must now I believe. They can be pretty fun, they excel at lower points games simply by how they outnumber most other opponents, except skaven. IMHO they can have one of the best magic defenses also, shutting down an opponent's magic phase in 8th can be great with all the killer spells out there.
As stated, if you're not hurting for the cash, keep em both. Play the goblins at lower points, and the ogres at higher points! Min/max!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You're joking right? WoC player brings Infernal puppet against you, that first miscast is going to leave your eyes watering in pain from the kick in the jimmies he gives you. You can potentially loose EVERY caster you have with a miscast as ogres. You can have EVERY caster loose a spell. You can have a caster become a T5 ogre without a club. You can also watch your caster just melt. There are 2 miscast results that aren't cripplingly painful on that table and every other one makes you regret ever having magic.
