I know that Biker or Battlewagon Nobz are the standard for competitive play, but can you turn footslogging Nobz into a viable unit and if so, how?
At first glance I'd say that 'eavy armor looks like a good buy for some added durability but that might get expensive fast.
I don't think everyone would need a Power Klaw and Big Choppas look pretty good for the price, so maybe a mix with a few Choppa/Sluggas as bullet sponges.

I think they'd get ruined by strength double toughness instant death, and template weapons.
Basically a Vindicator would kill off nearly it's points back every turn.
With wound allocation sleaze alleviating non insta-death weapons, maybe cybork bodies would be the better option to prevent some insta-deaths.
Or bring a Big Mek with KFF or two. Hmmm...it's worth trying once.

You must realize that the bullet sponges are now moving at 6"+d6" a turn instead of 12"-13" The sponging of bullets will overpower the handful you brought for that duty and begin rolling onto more important people.
That being said, I'd love to see orks start doing this.

I wonder about the effectiveness of two to three squads of TL Rokkit Buggies, two KFF Big Meks, and all Nobz.
The Rokkit Buggies could run around and harass template tanks, while the Nobz sleaze wound allocation with 'heavy armor, and 5++ cover saves from the Big Mek.

I should have said that I was thinking of doing this with a kan wall army. Taking a Warboss in addition to the Mek so I had a squad of scoring Nobz. Mostly I wanted a tougher unit to support the walkers in pushing squad off of objectives.

I've had some success with footslogging nobz. I usually only have one or two with a powerclaw and I almost always take eavy armor and a painboss (4+ reroll able save due to FNP).

As always go ahead and try it. I still think the best bullet sponges are either boyz or grots. I just cant see how spending all those points on nobs, to soak up shots. They are far to destructive to just being running around on foot.
If your going full horde though, Id say keep them behind the blobs of boys so they are mostly intact when they get there
