Terrain
I was mainly scared of him just digging in and waiting for me but it turned out he was scared of me flanking too, so he held a lot in reserve. Which ended up being good and bad for me.
The table layout is above, with three objectives spread along the table. Must control more than the opponent after 6 turns. IF lost the roll and I made him set up and go first (so I could spend my last turn grabbing objectives.
Deployment
I'm not sure why he left the standard tectical with the libby in reserve. I personally would have put it where the scouts were. I think he wanted the chance to bring it up where ever khan showed up though. In his first 2 turns he shuffled around a little and waited for me.
Turns 1 and IF turn 2
He was a little gutted to have his scout bikers show up so early so just ran them 24" into the middle of the table and waited for me.
White Scar Turn 2
I got a techmarine and the bike squad into play. The techmarine couldnt really do much at this point to I hid him behind the woods. The bike squad moved up and opened fire on the side armour of the predator, blowing it up but loosing a biker to an over heat =[
Imperial Fist Turn 3
His librarian and
tac squad move and and join forces to blow my bikers away. His remaining predator moves round and takes a pot shot at the techmarine but I make my save.
White Scars Turn 3
I get lucky this turn. Not only do I get my Rhino squad but both the Attack bikes too PLUS all on the same side (I think I rolled 4,5,6
lol). I move the Rhino up and pop smoke then use it as cover to move the bikes up and take out the other predator. The explosion catches the techmarine but again he makes his save. I really like the guy bit it really sucks him only having the 1 wound.
Imperial Fist Turn 4
This turn he gets his other
tac squad in with a Rhino and pops smoke furthest away from my current forces. He moves his libby squad up into the ruins and tried machine curse at the rhino, but only shakes it. He zooms his bikers over to the far side of the table. His snipers take a few pot shots at the techmarine (only about 3 could see him) but he saves. From where he is he can just sit tight and hide/shoot until the end game when he can start contesting. This is what I was afraid of.
White Scar Turn 4
I (finally) get Khan in this turn with the R.Back Squad. They come in from the right corner and prepare to take a shot at his rhino. I keep my Rhino still and get ready to unload rapid fire death into his 'stronghold' in an attempt to try and shift it. I cant assault in yet when he has so many troops there still. I keep my Attack Bikes hidden for now but send my techmarine over to find his scout bikers. He moved 24" so 'should' be ok if anyone decides to shoot him.
Imperial Fist Turn 5
Not wanting to loose one of his valuable troop choices the remaining scouts were pulled back and the libby squad took up defensive positions in ruins overlooking the centre objective. His Rhino moved round and loosed off a melta shot from inside but missed. He was still blocking Khan in though which was annoying as I needed him to help take down the libby squad. His scout bikers saw what was comming and decided to go for glory and moved up to fire on the techmarine, hoping for a lucky kill. It didn't happen.
White Scars Turn 5
The techmarine took up the challange from the scout bikers and fried one with his flamer and one with his plasma pistol but failed to finish the last one off in combat. Khan's Razorback blew up the Rhino and Khan lead the charge, killing a total of 4 for no losses. I really didnt fancy my chances sending in a basic
tac squad against there opposite number lead by a librarian but I hoped if I could hold them there for a turn or 2 I could grab the objectives and win. However much to everyones surprise the whole situation swung my way when I claimed 3 kills off bolters! And another 3 in combat!! For only a single loss back from the
Pf sergent after the librarian fluffed his attacks. That went much better than expected. And I even claimed an extra kill off the combat wounds!
Imperial Fists Turn 6
There wasnt much left for the IF to do but charged the scouts into Khan's squad to tie him up. Because the Razorback was close they couldn't claim the objective anyway and going for a draw at this point was his best option. Khan kept the combat on my side but he was well and truly bogged down. Over by the other ruins the librarian again fluffed his attacks and everyone in yellow died from
PF attacks, assists or moral check wounds. Score! The remainder of the squad consolidated back to the Rhino and prepared to take the central objective.
White Scar Victory!!
White Scars Turn 6
Thats just a shot of the last turn. I got a bit lucky at the end in this game but it balance out overall I feel (pretty much every plasma in my army over heated). I'm happy with the army though and we had a good laugh.
Tim my mate feels he could have had a better army though and was unimpressed with his predators. He's talking about stripping them down to razorbacks. I'll see what he comes up with as I've promised him a re-match in a few days.
I'll let you guys know how it goes.
