Hi everybody, I´m finally getting started with 40k(after 'bout 8 months with(unpainted) Black Reach ), and I've succumbed to the Hive Mind, but I don't know what to start with .
So, I need help getting a 2000p list to begin with, and since I'm low on money right now, I can't afford experimenting on what works on my own(and I don't know gak about list-building either ), but I've read through the Codex a couple of times, so I know about all units.

Anyways, any help with this would really be appreciated.
(Btw, I'm sorry if there are any bad grammar, spelling, etc, I'm a Swede )

Im not a nid expert but perhaps you should let the others know what type of list you'd like? For example if you want ranged or Close-Combat.

That's basicly the start of making a list

The Cursed Lantern Legion 1750pts (30% Painted)

Khorne's Legionnaires 1750pts

Craftworld Korestal WIP Army

Cursed Lantern : W 8 : D 1 : L 2

Get a couple of carnifexes 2-3 and max them out with all the useful upgrades - make sure they get the lowest save possible and don't bother with guns get sythes or summat because they are much better in combat. Then filll the rest of you points with gaunts and warriors for the synapse range. You have hundreds of attacks with the gaunts and the fexes can easily take out leaders and tanks.

Yeah, I forgot it to mention it^^
Ok, so I want a Close Combat list(swarmish or fast attack)
I was thinking about Raveners and Gargoyles with Flyrant for Fast Attack, And gaunts and Tervigons for a swarm.

Really anything but this. Seriously, warriors are weak in 5e because the lost eternal warrior, so now they are t4 w3 4+, and unless you absolutely overload your opponent with very, very scary t6, all the s8 At weapons will massacre your warriors. Carnifex really aren't scary enough to draw fire away from your warriors.

If you want close combat focused nids, I would suggest a double or triple trygon list, with atleast 6 hive guard and some tervigons (2 if not 3) with catalyst.
Check out Hulksmash's tyranid tactica thread for ideas.

Well, I've made a quick list, what do ya think?
It ends up at 1930 points, with 70p I didn't know what to do with.

HQ:
Swarmlord + 2 Tyrant Guards w. Lashwhips ---------- 410p

Elites:
2 Hive Guards --------------------------------------------------- 100p
2 Hive Guards --------------------------------------------------- 100p

Troops:
30 Termagants w. TS and AG ----------------------------- 210p
30 Termagants w. TS and AG ----------------------------- 210p
Tervigon w. AG, TS Cluster Spine 'n' Catalyst -------- 195p
Tervigon w. AG, TS Cluster Spine 'n' Catalyst -------- 195p
30 Termagants ------------------------------------------------- 150p
30 Termagants ------------------------------------------------- 150p

Heavy Support:
Trygon w. AG---------------------------------------------------- 210p

So what is good, and what need to change?

I wound take more than one trygon, I've played lists like this one and the turn that the trygon deepstrikes in I scream very loudly and order everything to shoot at it. Sure it may have brought the termagaunts a bit more time to run up but would you pay 210 points for that?

I personally would do one of two things:

1) Swap out the tyrant guards and a few other things for another trygon.

or

2) Lose the trygon and the tyrant guards and take either more hive guards or a unit of genestealers to go around with your swarmlord.

Also the trygon and swarmlord are your only read anti-AV 14, I could see this list having trouble if it came up against, say, a land raider redeemer. Actually having thought of that I would take more trygons over genestealer and hive guard.

too many gants, cut the biomorph upgrades, that's what tervigons are for, and if you lose the 4th termigant group you can afford a 2nd trygon. Keep in mind that you really shouldn't DS them unless you're playing dawn of war. Run them up the board.

Sorry for not posting, it has been a hell of a busy week, but what do ya think of this?
It comes out at 2015p, but that's no big deal for the guys I play with.

Much better. You can throw FNP on all your big beasties from the Tervigons while the Gants swarm up the board before attacking and using the Tervigon's boost. Hive Guard should give you plenty of antitank...

Good and Stompy. I'd start playtesting via Vassal if you don't have the models, or proxying so you can get a feel for if the list works beyond theory.

Only thing this list might need is something that can shoot up/distract the opponent as you close. Right now it's a shooting gallery until you get close, especially if your opponent eats your Hive Guard despite their Gant screen.

You might want to think about running 3 units of 10 devil gants instead of 3 broods of 20. That will let your screening element be a threat as well.
