Howdy. New W40k and new ork player. I searched the forums and the codex first but couldn't find the answer. I have two questions:

1.) Can "any" Nob have a Waaagh! Banner. Specificly, can a Nob carrying a Waaagh! Banner be attached to a unit of Boyz thus confering the +1 WS to all da boyz in the unit? Or, must he be in a unit of Nobz?

2.) Can Painboyz be substituted as a Nob in a unit of Boyz or must they be fielded within a unit of Nobz? (Excepting the IC Maddok)

1) Only a Nob in a Nob Unit has the option for taking a Waaagh! Banner, so only those can take it.

2) No. Again, only for the Nobz Squad

The Nobz squad is a totally separate choice from the Nob to "lead" a Boyz Squad, and each have their own upgrades and don't mix.

Edit: Ha! Ha! Ninja'd U! :p

1) Only the nobz as part of a nobz squad, as there are no rules for detaching a nob from this squad and joining it to a boyz squad, and no rules allowing a boyz nob to take a banner.

2) As above. You have no rules for a painboy in a boyz squad, so you cannot have one. Best you can do is attach Mad Dok to the unit, but that doesnt end well....
