The tables look really nice, but the turn out doesn't look that great. Frankly I'm not surprised. I would have liked to have gone, but the ticket prices were unfounded for the style of event it was.

We did a lot of looking in to for what similar events charge, and we think that the event pricing was really good, especially since all of the events we had running were free.

Do you have some examples of other shows of the same size who are priced better in your mind so I can keep them in mind for the future?

Also, Matt, your tables rocked! See you again next year!

I know that Blood Angels display tray anywhere! They belong to a regular around here.

Judging from your phrasing, I'm guessing you had a hand in organizing the event. For next year can you put up alittle more information on things like how to get up an event, if there are any other dealers then Neil and if so how much is a table, etc. And contact information!

On Pricing, it does seem a bit high for a first year con that requires dealing with Jersey traffic. Check out the HMGS cons (Historicon, Fall In, Hurricon, etc), Tickets are normally around $20~$35 for the weekend.

I was very impressed by the number of high ranking representitves from some of the largest game compaines there. When you can go to a Con, and get an explination on what you need to get into Flames of War by one of the account managers for Canada and parts of the US... Thats just an amazing experiance that you dont get often.

There was info that there would be events, but I could not locate information on how to get involved.

We would not have been able to make it this year anyway, as we had a prior event already scheduled for this weekend, and I've been burned by too many first year cons already that I don't like to risk it. (Even more so when its an 18 hour drive each way)

Is Neil the person to talk to? I had a couple of emails back and forth with someone else. That might have been the problem. We didn't get enough info and with everything else going on, interest fizzled in making a big push for it. I'll just talk to Neil next year if they do it again.

I really wished I still lived in NY because I wanted to go to this. Perhaps next year I'll go visit my mom, and "by the way, I need to go someplace for a bit..."

Attendance was pretty good for a first year Con.

There were alot of events running and alot of room avalible for open gameing.

I was there all three days and I have to say that the event ran amazingly smooth. Plus I got to actually meet the Amazing Neal in person!

Yeah, Battlefront has some pretty cool guys. We're pretty close to the US HQ, it's about an hour south into De. So we see some of them up for tournaments now and then and they've run some stuff up at my store. Good crew.

I dont know why I never put two and two together before this, it took me seeing them there to realize that Battlefront owns GF9...

They bought GF9 about 1-2 years ago. About the same time they bought Wargames Illustrated magazine and put Dave Taylor in as the US editor. Good synergies going there.

I have to say, I was impressed by their representitves, I've always wanted to try the game. In fact I've had an Open Fire starter sitting on my shelf for months waiting for me to get around to it. Talking to the rep at the Warstore Weekend gave me that extra little push, that and finding out that they offer prize support!

The Warstore Weekend has already been scheduled for next year. i'm already looking forward to it. It really was a good time. I hope its even bigger next year.

You talked to the right person Mike but you did not seem to actually want to run anything. Maybe that was my mistake. If you are interested in running stuff next year be sure to drop me a line!

Attendance was right around where we expected for first year which was 200 ish All in all I am pretty happy and looking forward to next year.

On that note, next years dates are set, Oct 7-9. Write it down and prepare for awesome!

We're always interested in running things, but I also ask a lot of questions, because as anyone who saw what we did at Games Day the last couple of can attest, we don't do small things.) I run demo games for a living, not somethng I'm going to travel and do somewhere else. But big, impressive displays, games, or tournaments are worth doing. Similar feelings from most of the club.

You may have taken my doing research and asking a lot of questions as non interest. If so, my bad. I'll give Neil a call about next year, when it gets closer to it, and I talk to Chris Frye a couple of times a week.

Glad things went well, and with a year's notice it will be easier to fit into our schedule.

Australia needs events like this. Other than large tournament events, there is not much in the way of Conventions unless you are willing to fly 3hours minimum to a southern major city.

Several of the pics show mecha from Dream Pod 9's Heavy Gear*. It's a 1/144 mecha game, and the mecha (Gears) are generally a lot smaller than the Gundams, Battlemechs, and similar that are the basis of a lot of mecha settings.

* For whom I do a little work for, yadda, yadda.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

The page should be updating soon with the new date. The location will be the same as it was this year.

Next year will be great!
