Hi Dakka,

I'm thinking about re-containerizing my GW paints for ease of use. If anyone has done this before I could use some tips..

The bottles I'm thinking to use will be something similar to these-
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/50-Units-30ml-1oz-Plastic-Dropper-Bottle-/120590606760?pt=AU_Wholesale_Beauty_Health&hash=item1c13c2a1a8

Should I add water (or whatever the proper medium is) to the bottle when i pour it in? Where would I obtain said medium??

Will a larger amount of air in the bottle have a negative effect? (dry out faster) If so should I aim for bottles that hold very close to the same amount?

Anything else I should consider?

Thanks

Lepto.

I transferred about 5 old GW paints (the old mega paint set from about 8 years ago that I'd never used) to Vallejo dropper bottles which I bought from a UK modelling site. They are about 30% larger than the old GW paint pots so had plenty of air. When transferring I added a little water and liquitex medium to them as I paint with thinned paints anyway so it didn't bother me.

One thing I would say is a good idea is to add an agitator to the bottles. I used lava beads after reading legoburners great investigation here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/240098.page

I love using dropper bottles and though you waste a little paint from each pot it's far better than letting it all get gunked up in my opinion.

That is GOLD !!

Thanks!!

Turns out a friend may have a ready source of bottles, so this maybe a far cheaper exercise than i thought ^^

Happy days

Is this the specific liquitex I would need?

That should have read 50 paints, including some of the discontinued ones which is why I was happy to spend the time doing it.

Good luck, and enjoy the fun of being able to doll out tiny drops of paint .

i think its a great idea. If the paints were not already 4$ a piece, I might do that too. Its funny (actually the word im searching for is more like pathetic) how many generations of updated paint bottles GW has gone thru, yet all of them still have that horrible little internal plastic protuberance that causes so many problems; yet they seem to think it is such a good idea. I say go for it!
