Hello All,
My group and I have just recently got into 40k and we hear and read many different things that say "this group is working off a 4th edition codex" and "they have 5th edition", etc. My question is how can you tell which edition a codex is? Is there something in the book or on the book that states this?

Thanks all!

This will tell you what edition each codex is from : http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Codex

The edition of a codex is dependent upon which rules edition it was made for

Officially speaking, however, the most current codex for every army is the "5th edition" codex, as that is the one you should be using with the current (5th edition) rules set.
