Not really an army list but...

I have a large 300+ point dh force and am expanding to get a guard army. I have 2 infantry platoons to get all the troops on the field. What other units should I get for my army? I really like the look of the valakrie but is it worth the points in game terms? and what units should I get to complement it.

I there are an seasoned guard players with any advice at all I would really appreciate it.

Yes they are probably the best FA choice IG has. Vets, they are great in them since they score and come with BS4 spceial weapons.

Valks can have Rocket Pod+HB Combo and murder infantry or be a vendetta and come with 3 TL Lascannons to gun down tanks. Drop off vets to do their job (mainly tank hunting)

Kenshin is right. If you want to make a guard army. The Valkyries are a pretty good Fast Attack choice. Their one shot missiles are great IMO.

They deep strike even if you want them too.

Hydra tank batteries do the trick as well. They'll put a lot of hurt on enemy transports. If your opponant doesn't field lots of chimera's, rhino's, or other AV11-12 units, I wouldn't take any Hydras.

The Imperial Guard have so many amazing long range tank units. Take a good look at your competition and see what types of units/tanks their going field. Pick up a Leman Russ, or whatever else to have the advantage against them.
