Howdy all, so this weekend I was playin a few games and noticed a few things I couldn't sort out with the BRB and 'dexes and require a bit of input:

1) So I cast Shield of Sanguinus on a squad that was subsequently targeted by the Eldar webspinner thingger. Being a barrage weapon, I know "cover" saves are disallowed as cover is counted from the center of the template... however, the shield is a cover save without actually "being" in cover. Would barrage weapons in general then disallow this cover save? I figured things like KFF, Shield, and turboboosting would count

2) I was watching a game and a guy turboboosted. So his opponent targeted it (was a stormraven) with his hive guard and penetrated it 5 times, which the guy took cover on... my reading of the hive guards special cannon thinggy would make me think that the cover wound be disallowed as your technically not touching or in cover, your just moving quick. What would the ruling on this be?

Thanks in advance! I'm just using these questions as a "so I know" incase it comes up again

If it specifically says it ignores cover, than no cover save. If not, than you get your save, assuming you can claim a cover save after the shot scatters. kff, shield, tb, and venemthrope all tell you to take the save if you've met their respective conditions.

If it says terrain does not count, than terrain does not count. Cover saves are given for different reasons.
2 is a much trickier question, as it tells you to ignore certain situations. As my understanding of the impaler cannons, you're ignoring terrain, but if that isn't why they get a cover save, than they still get one.

1) The shield gives a cover save. Unless the weapon specifically denies cover saves (like flamers, for example) you're golden to use it. Barrage even points out that you'll get the save regardless in area terrain.

2) The Hive Guard do not ignore all cover saves. They disallow terrain-based cover saves in some conditions, but if you have something else you're good.

1) Barrage ignores cover that isnt between the centre of the hole and the model. Shield means there is ALWAYS cover between the blast and the model.

2) Impalers dont ignore cover saves, they state you only receive terrain cover saves you are in or are touching. So Flat Out is fine, as it isnt a terrain cover save.
