Pretty much anything except maybe 4-5ish games on the Wii. Like the DS it is filled with so much shovel ware designed for that age group it isn't funny.

Get him Superman 64

But general find out the shows he likes then get the half assed game they threw together for it. He'll probably enjoy it because it's like the show or something and would be too young not to worry about stuff like poor game play yet.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

Wii sports works pretty well, but as I tell most parents who come into the store and are looking for a game it depends on the willingness of others to play with the kid( for example an only child with busy parents may not enjoy Mario Party as much as a kid with 3 brothers and sisters) and if the kid gets mad if they lose in a game.

I could recommend; Wii sports, Mario Kart, Super Mario Brothers(not mario galaxy though), Mario Party(if there are siblings or friends that come over often), Jumpstart games for learning, 'Cars' movie games, a lot of games based off of Disney titles are also pretty good as the kid has a better chance of knowing the characters which makes it more fun, there are probably other ones but I usually have a shelf of games in front of me when I recommend them so I can't remember any other lesser known ones.

But safe ones are anything Mario(except galaxy), LEGO(starwars, batman, indiana jones), and Disney games.

That's one of the funniest things I've ever read on Dakka.

I lol'd

To the OP.
I would suggest something other than console games. Unless they are activity styled titles most if not all games will become a waste of money since they are for 7+ upwards.

Any game on console will end up being a frustrating experience for the child and their parents/carers (the child will always have to be supervised).

Try looking for activity titles on the PC and those specifically designed for children with difficulties. Even then 5 years old??? Somethings amiss if console games are being thought of.

My 4yo likes civilization but I get creeped out a lot by the kid on what it knows.. My ex makes jokes a lot about me turning the kid into a cyborg.
But from what her mother tells me she plays civilization, sim city, those wii sports games and shes found her on halo 3 more then a few times with her husband.

You're right - kids are impressionable. He may start shaving his head and screaming a lot. We don't want that.

No not that who cares if they watch superman and jump off the roof because they think they are from krypton and can fly only to crack open their skulls on my $20 driveway. Not their parents fault for their kids being born with a low count of brain cells.

It's the fact that they will(and I know this from experience) some how glue their heads to the table or stick a fig in my ear so far because I'm passed out drunk they I have to have it surgically removed... I mean their ear.
