I have the old Emperor's Fist Tank Company boxset (which came with 10 Leman Russes) and It's gonna form the basis of my Imperial Guard Mech Army. However the Demolishers seems to me to be just as (if not more) effective as the standard battle cannon of the leman russ, so I want to field about 3 or 4 of them. However I have no idea where i can get a hold of the older Demolisher cannons, and dont really wanna blow my wallet buying 4 of them anyways (the tank company was expensive enough as it is). I was thinking of shortening the barrel and gluing some rods onto the side to simulate the braces on the old Demolisher cannon, or just shorten the barrel and drilling some holes into it a la the Baneblade Demolisher. would those pass as a Demolisher for an older Leman Russ?

Yay. I'll post some WIP pics when I start then. I also forgot to mention that these are the old Leman Russes (I got the box set about 3-4 years back).

GW don't do it any more & I would go down the FW path myself if I was buying replacement turrets anyway

yeah but I'm a cheapass xP Besides, I'd do anything for an excuse to convert. I'll look to FW for some inspiration.

Another thing I will do if I am converting a Leman Russ is use Plasticard and other bits to ensure it stand a part from just the weapon system. Example: I recently made a Vanquisher turret conversion because I wanted on but didn't feel like buying a new kit. Using an older pre-painted Russ and beat up turret, I used platicard, bits and Green stuff to build an extended turret and Extra armour all over the tank. That way when I look at it I don't feel like I tried to make an attempt at an exsisting kit, I made it uniquly my own.

I'd buy a demolisher cannon from one of the bitz stores advertized at the top

I'm going to study the FW ones and use the existing Battlecannon as the base, and make each of those cannons my own. I never liked the metal ones, they look very dated and doesnt seem to fit well.
