If I am correct, the Doomwheel for Skaven *just* came out. Is that right? Just a couple months old, right?

Now the next question: was there a version of the Doomwheel that's been around for a while? In other words, is there an OOP version of the Doomwheel?

Last, would a Skaven Player have a use for more than one of these in an army, or is one really all that's needed?

Doomwheel has been around awhile, at least 7 years. There is a new model that is out and there was an old model that you can no longer purchase from GW.

I think the new model is well under a year old.

I believe the 'old' Doomwheel was for at least two versions back for WHFB, and was omitted from an army book or two as 'too silly.'

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

The new version just came. And the old version is well over 10 years old now and certainly OOP. I have one. Pretty cool but nor as nice as the new one.

There have been three Skaven army books.

The Doomwheel V1.0 (with the Warlock Engineer perched on top) was in the first book.

The second book omitted the Doomwheel altogether.

The third book released last year (November 2009) saw the release of Doomwheel V2.0 (with the Warlock Engineer inside the wheel) for which there are pretty good rules in the aforementioned thrid book. It is fully capable of fritzing a Bloodthirster and for that alone is worth its 150pt value.

Yes, thank you all, that's what I needed to know. One more Q - would a commander likely have a use for 2? Or is it unique?

Unless it says 0-1 on it then you can have as many as you can purchase. Perhaps this particular skaven warlord is wealthy and can purchase several from the Clan?

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

There is and older version, full-metal, of the Doomwheel. This was released during the 4th edition of WFB IIRC:

The current version, full-plastic, was released along with the current army book almost exactly one year ago, in November 2009.

Doomwheels are Rare units, but they aren't 0-1, so you can fieldas much as you want as long as you respect the points percentage and the repeated units rules.
